Student Trainee June-2015
Siemens Global Baroda, India
I shadowed a maintenance engineer who maintained steam turbines (SST-300 and SST-600) in an electrical generating plant. I was able to ask questions and learn about how and why the engineer performed the tasks he did. I also prepared a presentation about the experience and presented it to the plant’s staff.
Technician in Training Feb-2012 to Aug-2012
Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. Delhi, India
Reporting to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, I performed scheduled inspections to assess airworthiness of the company’s fleet of helicopters.
Performed in-depth inspections of 1 helicopter per day
Learned to inspect 3 different models of helicopter:
oBell 206L4, Dauphin SA365 N3 and Ecureuil AS350 B3 fitted with Allison 250 C30P, Arriel 2C and Arriel 2B1 engines respectively
Maintained an accurate log book
Acquired knowledge of airframe structure, materials and manufacturing process
Gained knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, SMED
Assemble aircraft parts and components
Gained intermediate skills in operation of metal lathe
ACADEMIC PROJECT
Title: Alternative and eco-friendly fuel: Biodiesel (Graduate project)
I set out to determine and analyze the performance and emission trends of a HATZ 2G40 diesel engine when fueled biodiesel and kerosene blends, under a series of different conditions. This is a very new area of fuel research and I found myself on the cutting edge.
Found that a 50/50 blend of biodiesel and kerosene fueled the best performance and efficiency
Performed viscosity, calorific value and density tests on 6 different fuel blends
Attained efficiency results of 35.25% at high load and maximum rpm (6.3644% higher than regular diesel)
ACHIEVEMENTS
Published journal paper in IJERA entitled “Effect of exhaust gas recirculation on performance and emissions of a modern small diesel engine fueled with biodiesel-kerosene blends, ISSN: 2248-962, Vol. 8, Issue 3 (Part- ) march-2018, pp. 28-40”
Won 1st place in 2016 Engineer Day competition at India Institute of Engineering in the Aerospace Category
