I am looking for a position where my logistical and organizational skills will be partnered with my creativity for a challenging work experience every day. My ability to excel in varying environments is shown through my eclectic work history.
EXPERIENCE
MARCH 2016– PRESENT
CASHIER, KITCHEN, INVENTORY SPECIALIST, & EVENT MANAGER
Suzy’s Pops 256-***-****
After 2 years of employment with Suzy’s Pops, I became her event manager where I am responsible for planning events with clients, organizing our event calendar, and set-up/tear-down of our equipment for the events I work weekly. Maintaining inventory numbers for the kitchen manager and me to know what product needs to be made is my primary focus as inventory specialist. All my work done for Suzy is creatively organized and focused on getting a wonderful product to our customers.
AUGUST 2011 – AUGUST 2015
OPERATOR II, Endo/Qualitest pharmaceuticals
Always wanting to learn more, I became a trainer and key member of the SWAT, Safety, and Quality teams as well as my job of Operator II. I was frequently requested to run equipment on other lines when my line was down for repairs. My primary job was working the labeler position, which was the busiest area on the line, being responsible for 4 machines, 2 round tables, and multiple checks and tests to be run throughout the day.
MARCH 2011-AUGUST 2011
2ND SHIFT CASHIER, SHELL STATION/THE SPENCER COMPANIES 256-***-****
In an effort to get regular fulltime hours, I took this position to help a friend (the manager) with her employee problem. I walked in as she was escorting an employee she was firing out the door. Working a tough shift alone, I brought up the sales numbers because customers actually stopped going to a convenience store up the street, saying I was nicer and more interesting to talk to. Being polite and approachable does pay off.
JANUARY 2011-APRIL 2011
SET-UP AND FABRIC TABLE/CASHIER, JOANN FABRICS 256-***-****
I was initially hired to help with the set-up of the store, then hired as a permanent employee for the grand opening. Customers were sent to me when they needed help choosing fabrics and the correct yardage. Being a self-taught costumer, I truly enjoyed the interaction.
DECEMBER 2010-MARCH 2011
INVENTORY ASSOCIATE, RGIS
Performing inventory counts both manually and with handheld scanners for differing types of retail businesses was challenging. One day I would be counting lingerie at Dillard’s and the next counting lawn equipment and dog food at Tractor Supply. To make my day go quickly, I challenged myself to get high numbers and accuracy.
FEBRUARY 1996-AUGUST 2009
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, PURCHASING, TRADE-OUT COORDINATOR, COLLECTIONS MANAGER, BACK-UP DISPATCHER, PARTS DEPARTMENT ASSISTANT MANAGER, SHIPPING AND RECEIVING MANAGER, WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR,
N & L ENTERPRISES, LLC/BERNEY OFFICE SOLUTIONS 256-***-****
At N & L, I started at the front door and worked my way through to the back. Nick Jr would pull me from my regular work for projects that needed organization from straightening the sales closet to labeling outlets in our new addition to creating the auto-restock system no one knew how to operate in our computer system. When I requested a month to learn the collections software part of our company software (there were no books for reference, even from the company that created it), I had it unraveled in 2 weeks. Then I shocked everyone when I managed getting our accounts at 98% under 60 days. (A 10% raise came from that achievement) When one dispatcher had a nervous breakdown and another had sleep apnea problems, I covered for them. The position of shipping and receiving manager was given to me because I covered for my coworkers in that position whenever they were out for the day or swamped often when no one had designated a contingency plan for that situation. These jobs were given to me because the people in charge knew I was reliable, not because I had applied for them. I was given the position of warehouse supervisor against my wishes, but worked hard to make a more congenial work atmosphere. When an old computer was planned to be removed, I appropriated it for use as a dedicated UPS system for all employees to have access, making it easier to process orders for shipping. I led our team to organize recycling of old machines instead of wasting money on a dumpster, so that we were able to use the funds for morale boosting cookouts.
EDUCATION
BS IN BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE, Athens State university
GENERAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATES DEGREE, Calhoun Community college
These degrees were earned over a 6 year period while working full-time and raising a child as a single parent. I was lucky to have family members help out by babysitting, however there were some classes and labs where my son attended with me.
GENERAL DIPLOMA, J.O. Johnson high school
ACTIVITIES
Creative endeavors take up much of my spare time. Being a teacher, performer, and costumer in Middle Eastern and fusionary dance styles has brought opportunities for many positions at dance workshops and SCA events. My skills have taken me all over the Southeast and as far north as Pennsylvania and Indiana. Ask me what a cat herder is…it’s a fun job and isn’t what you might think.
