Database Administer (2007-Current):
Mr. Baker is responsible for deploying, migrating, hardening (STIGing), mirroring, clustering, encrypting (with TDE), encrypted communication with DOD Certs, auditing, patching, and maintaining and backing up Microsoft SQL databases (2016, 2014, 2012, 2008 R2) that reside on physical and virtual machines. He has experience installing SQL clusters on VMware VMs and is familiar with vCenter. He is also gaining experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups. He is responsible for IBM DB2 (11.1, 10.5 and 9.7) Servers at various locations (installs, backups, fix packs, hardening, encryption, auditing, and setting up HADR in Linux RHEL environments) He has a thorough knowledge of T-SQL query language. He has worked closely with development teams concerning database design and develops stored procedures and triggers and scripts to perform various functions and provides ad-hoc reports using data contained in databases. He uses MSSQL’s Reporting Services (SSRS) for emailing scheduled reports. He also exports and/or purges data on request. Stephen holds a U.S. government clearance.
For the past few years, Mr Baker has also helped maintain several racks of servers in IBM’s Federal Data Center at Rocket Center, WV for a US Government Agency. This includes racking new servers, running copper and fibre, minor Juniper Switch and Load Balancer work (he had to replace a failed load balancer), and OS installs when requested. He manages backups for this customer with Veritas Netbackup 8.0. He monitors systems and the health of various web sites with NetIQ software. He has some experience with VEEAM Backups.
Data Management (2002-2007):
Mr. Baker's duties entailed protecting company and customer data, data migration to new servers, loading data, exporting data, and performing bulk updates to MS SQL Database tables. He created and ran Select and Update Queries against SQL Databases that stored records for approximately 15 Terabytes of online client images. He was responsible for managing backups for over 200 servers and over 30 terabytes of company and customer data. He managed 11 backup servers using Netvault, ARCserve, and HP Data Protector Software and various AIT, LTO and DLT libraries. Tapes were regularly moved/shipped to other locations on and off site.
He monitored Data Center Equipment. This entailed checking for amber lights on servers and monitoring cooling systems, UPS systems, and generators. He helped rack new servers, and ran copper and fiber when needed.
System Support Analyst (2000-2001):
Mr. Baker's duties entailed event log monitoring, repairing, ghosting, and upgrading computers and operating systems, reconfiguring network protocols, performing network administration and support, resolving printing problems, and system backups. Punched down network connections to Cisco switches. Punched down phone lines to the Audix System.
