Perform EKG’s,urinary caths, remove suture and staples. Change sterile dressings and maintain the sterile condition of medical supply items. Irrigate and pack wounds. Perform venipunctures. Blood collection by lancet, pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry, ear irrigation, administer breathing treatments, give insulin/immunization medications to adult patients. Verify and calculate medications orders and administer by oral, topical, intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular routes, including prescribed intravenous fluids to include saline lock and monitor, regulate and discontinue usage as ordered by physician. Document administration of medication in accordance with established clinic procedures. Recognize nature of emergencies and provide first aid in accordance with emergency protocols. Patient screening prior to scheduled appointment. Refer patient to appropriate care level when assessment indicates an emergent/urgent medical condition. Conduct patient and family teaching on how to perform simple tests and self-care, such as blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure monitoring. Reinforce instructions previously presented by physician/nurse and provide input for patient care planning. Respond to incoming telephone calls (per physician instructions) for refills and prescriptions to pharmacy. Order pre-appointment labs/x-rays and submit consults to sub-specialties at physician direction. Document all patient care electronically and solve patient advocacy issues. Performs central sterile supply duties. Assist physician in various minor procedures. Instruct patients on the risks and post-instructions of each procedure. Contact patient within 72 hours following procedure to check on well-
