NEW STAFF MANAGER SURGICAL PRE-OP/Clinical Coordinator /HEALTHCARE TECHNICIAN
(NMCSD)
Manager for new staff assigned to surgical pre-op area for skills assessment; manage an extensive program to include the application of intravenous fluids, intravenous catheter placement, proper bedside manner, role in the pre- operative process, proper behavior in operating room, educational opportunities to further their careers, and networking with peers.
Assigned to surgical pre-op hold area; responsibilities include checking in patients, scheduling and canceling appointments. Ensure all essential documentation is completed before surgery, take vital signs, check blood glucose for patients with diabetes, perform laboratory dipstick pregnancy test for women, and initiate intravenous fluids. Additionally, transport medications from the pharmacy and administer to patients. Assist the charge nurse in daily interviewing of patients, check charts, print out laboratory test, x-rays, and electro- cardiograms.
