Introduction:
I am looking for a part- time position as a CAD Drafter. I am interested in working 24 to 30 hours a week. I am originally from Shreveport, Louisiana. I moved to Dallas in 2010. I returned to Shreveport in 2016 due to my Mother’s poor health. I moved back to Dallas in June of this year. I have family in Dallas and will be making this my home.

I have over 20 years’ experience as a drafter for A/E Firms, with the majority of my experience working for Civil/Land Development Firms.

Consulting Civil Engineering Firm in Shreveport, Louisiana
I worked as a CAD Drafter on a Water/Sewer Improvements project for the City of Shreveport. I also worked on a series of plats for a Private Developer. I also worked on a Highway Project. The bulk of the work was red line markups. After completing the Highway Project, I was laid off for lack of work.

Consulting Engineering Company located in Shreveport, Louisiana
I worked as a CAD Drafter/Designer to assist Project Manager in producing construction documents for City of Shreveport Public Works and other Municipalities in the area. I worked on bridge projects, road improvements and sewer improvement projects. I was laid off for lack of work.
Bury Engineering, INC. – 2014 to April 2015
Consulting Engineering Company located in Dallas, Texas
I worked as a CAD Drafter/Designer in the Public Works Department. The bulk of my work at Bury was a paving extension in Allen, Texas. The project consisted of pavement, a small bridge with some bike paths through a creek area.
I had been hired to help with several Civil Engineering projects. Unfortunately, these projects did not materialize and there was not enough work to justify my position.

I worked as a CAD Tech on various civil engineering projects. Most of the work was for the City of Arlington. I also worked on private projects for commercial and residential projects. The company experienced some legal problems that they could not recover from and was forced to close the Firm in December, 2014.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Board, DFW Airport, Texas – 2010 through 2012
Asset Management Department- Engineering
I worked as a CAD Drafter/Designer in the Asset Management Department. I assisted the staff Engineers in producing construction documents for various maintenance projects at the airport and surrounding buildings and grounds. These projects would be for new construction or for maintenance and repairs. I provided maps to be used in various presentations.
The Airport used MicroStation V8 as their required computer Software.

Structural and Civil Engineering Firm located in Shreveport, Louisiana
I worked as a Structural team member on a variety of projects – such as Schools, Hospitals, Medical Office Buildings, Correctional Facilities and Manufacturing Facilities.
I worked closely with the Civil Engineer to produce Construction Documents for various projects. Some examples of these projects are Site Plans, Parking Lots and Garages, Water and Sewer, Storm Drainage and Pavement Projects.
I worked as a Project Designer on Projects for the State of Louisiana’s Facility Planning and Control Department. I worked as a Designer on Projects for Bell South of Louisiana’s Roofing Repair and Replacement Programs.
I designed Company Brochures for the purpose of acquiring new Engineering Clients. I would photograph project sites and create in-house brochures for potential clients.
I was responsible for preparing the Engineering Invoices by utilizing QuickBooks Software. I followed each Project’s progress and provided an Invoice based on the Project’s percentage of completion.

I worked on a variety of projects; such as Water and Sewer Projects, Streets and Paving Projects and Storm Water Management Projects. I worked with the Design Engineers in preparing emergency repair projects for water, sewer and storm sewer lines
The City of Shreveport employed a survey crew that surveyed the in-house projects. I would prepare Construction Projects from the surveys. I provided the Plan and Profile Sheets, Cross-Sections, Material Take-Offs, Right of Way Maps, Property Plats and other Maps as required by the Engineering Office.
I was responsible for reviewing the surveys for proposed projects. I would check the surveys for inconsistencies and omissions.

Structural and Civil Engineering Firm in Shreveport, Louisiana
I worked as part of a civil engineering team that produced Construction Documents.
I worked on bridge plans and bridge details as part of a team of Structural and Civil Engineers. I also drew up site plans with contours and elevations from survey notes.
I was responsible for finishing a Master Drainage Project encompassing the different drainage basins in Shreveport, Louisiana and surrounding areas. The basins had been drawn over aerial photographs. The photographs had been divided into 24 x 36 Mylar sheets. I checked each sheet to make sure each basin’s edges matched and that the drainage structures had been correctly plotted and labeled.

I worked as part of an Engineering team to complete a National Park Service Engineering Project. I worked from notes and mark-ups provided by the Lead Engineer. I was responsible for making the corrections on each Plan and Profile sheet that would be involved in the Plan Modifications. I would then correct the corresponding detail sheets, cross sections, and other sheets affected by the changes. The Firm was in the process of changing to computer drafting at this time. I learned to use AutoCAD while working for this firm.
Prior to 1989 – I worked as a drafter for Civil Engineering Firms and for Architectural
Firms. I prepared Construction Documents under the instruction of the Lead Architect or the Project Engineer.
