Internship:
I was working in the Overhaul Department of the Army Base Workshop, Pune, India. The workshop is in Pune, India. Tank engines in India, Russia as well, sent to the workshop to overhaul and test after overhauling. I have learned assembly, disassembly, working of the fuel pump of a tank engine, testing of the engine.
Assembly and disassembly:
Tank engines are huge category engines in the automotive field. Their assembly, working and overhauling with testing is another great and critical task. Assembly of the tank engine is the basic step towards its dynamic design and power of the engine. To assemble it in a perfect way is important to get maximum power at the output. I have learned the assembly of the tank engine on hands to visualize and know how things assembled together to get the great output. Following image shows the assembly of the tank engine, Figure. Assembly of the tank engine
Overhauling the tank engine:
Overhaul means checking the fault in the engine. The place I worked had many army tanks engines to overhaul them from various parts of India. In the overhaul process, I have worked on working on the fuel pump of the tank engine. It’s the important part of the engine from where the engine gets its correct amount of mixture of air and fuel. Following images shows the basic idea of overhauling the engine, Figure: Overhauling the tank engines
Testing the tank engine:
Testing the tank engine was the last step in the overhaul process. Testing the engine includes checking of torque, rpm, heating of the engine and stability of the engine. Also, checking of the fuel pump is important to test in the process.

Design Optimization of Belleville Spring Washer by using MATLAB In this project, I have optimized the design of the Belleville spring which was being used in the Mahindra CIE Automotive Limited - Forgings Division, Pune, India. The optimization I have done was by reducing the thickness of the spring.
Design
I have modeled the spring with the help of CATIA with the various useful commands in the software to make it efficient later on.
The 3D design of the Belleville Washer(Spring) is shown below, Figure: Belleville spring design in CATIA software Analysis
The analysis of the spring I have done in ANSYS software. The analysis had many parameters as loading the spring and check the deflection and stress on the spring. The load should not exceed the ultimate stress of the material of the spring. There should be some factor of safety to have the ideal design.
Figure: Analysis of Belleville Washer using ANSYS software Optimization
The optimization of the spring was done in MATLAB with the inputs as load and thickness with design parameters of the Belleville spring. Outputs were stress and fractured condition of the design of the spring. Therefore keeping the appropriate factor of safety I have reduced the thickness of the spring which indirectly reduced the cost of the spring. Henceforth, we can reduce the bill of material and make it beneficient to company and consumer together.
