Swagelok: Contract Supplier Quality / Metallurgical & Materials Engineer: June 2017 to Present

-Development of Additive metal 3D printing applications and characterizations of metal 3D printed material.

- Investigation of NDE inspection methods for additive manufactured 3D printed products (CT, X-ray, UT, thermography, and eddy current).

- Investigation of material related rejections of incoming raw materials (300 series stainless steels, carbon steel, brass, titanium, and exotic alloys).

- Coordinate problem solving efforts between corporate Supplier Development Engineers, Materials Lab, and Suppliers.

- Reduced customer claims for high quality, large scale static castings by over 40% and prevented the lossof 30 percent of that business in one year.

- Implemented lean manufacturing, 5S, and total quality processes that resulted in a 50% reduction in workforce with a doubling in productivity and scrap rate / rework rate reductions of 40% and 60%,

respectively.

LTV Steel Company: Manager Hot Rolled Quality, Senior Product & Process Engineer, and Major Account Plant Quality Manager: May 1976 – July 1991

- Manager Hot Rolled Quality – manage workforce consisting of 2 Degreed Metallurgical

/ Quallity engineers, 8 Salaried Foremen, 12 Salaried Quality Inspectors, and 32 hourly metallurgical lab / inspector / recorders (Union).

- Plant Quality Coordinator, managing entire plant assets to meet all quality issues

(order through shipment) to key major accounts (>$28 MM/year sales). One person prime contact for customer issues (from Customer CEO to customer plant contacts). Achieved Top Supplier and Sole Supplier status for my accounts (4 in an 8 year period).

- Headed a team that developed, refined and implemented direct ingot rolling and hot charging operations at LTV Steel Cleveland. Including industry first real time characterization and disposition of hot (high temperature) rolling related defects, utilized Lean Manufacturing / 5S methodologies.

- Developed industry first computerized analysis and acceptance/rejection protocol for the real-time disposition of hot strip mill coil product for critical, customer specific key dimensional and thermal parameters.
