DESIGN ENGINEERING
Performed stress analysis on ASME Section III class 2&3 piping and pipe support systems, utilizing “PIPSYS”, “ME101”, ”TPIPE", ”TRIFLEX”,pipe stress analysis programs, and STRUDL, SAGS/DAGS structural framing analysis programs. Recent experience includes "TPIPE " analysis for PER resolution on ASME Section III class 2 piping. Performed as a design discipline field engineer and resolved field installation problems associated with pressure vessels, tanks, piping, and pipe supports; provided field re-designs while coordinating with area superintendents and contractors' engineering department on piping, supports, and pipe whip restraint installation requirements.
Performed in the capacity of a senior project / piping / mechanical designer, while working in the polymers, resins, and research sections of Dow Division Engineering. I utilized CAD (computer aided design) workstations to enhance my skills in developing equipment layouts, piping designs, and mechanical component details for chemical process, research, and production plants. As a member of the "DRYTECH" project team, I received the DOW USA Engineering Excellence Award and the Michigan Division Engineering Achievement award for the contributions which I made to this "fast track" project.
Performed as a Turnaround Area Piping Lead and developed cost estimates, scopes of work, construction packages for the piping / mechanical TAR Capital Projects engineering team. Provided technical support and direction to members assigned to my area of responsibility.
QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEERING AND QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTION
Performed in the capacity of an ANSI Level II inspector. Provided first-line receipt, fabrication, welding, and installation inspections on QA level I, II, & III HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and supports. While working as a Quality Assurance Engineer, I performed as a "technical specialist" on an audit team. I was responsible for developing audit check lists and auditing various departments of the consulting engineer. This effort eventually led to identifying major deficiencies in the consultants' design engineering process.
I was responsible for a sub-contractors conformance to Q.A. programmatic requirements, reviewed and approved procedures, conducted surveillance's. Trained and certified Level II inspectors and engineers. Developed and wrote procedures for a comprehensive, thorough, and independent inspection program of installations made by on-site contractors in the piping/mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and civil-structural disciplines. This program drastically improved the quality of the work being performed and provided an additional level of assurance which led to subsequent licensing of a nuclear power plant. Developed and wrote "Project Quality Control Inspection Plans" and outlined inspection criteria required for ASME Section II piping and supports.
PROJECT COORDINATION AND SUPERVISION
Performed in the capacity of an ANSI Level III, Group Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities included all inspection planning, scheduling, and coordination. Supervised work performed by engineers and inspectors assigned to my group. Monitored production and compliance to inspection criteria. Generated weekly reports to the Utility and the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission).
Developed a process safety management program. Supervised and conducted the piping/instrument walk down and documentation in an effort to provide the client with accurate, reliable, P&ID's (process and instrument diagrams) necessary to initiate future HAZOP studies (Hazard Analysis Studies).
Performed in the capacity of a Project Leader. Duties and responsibilities include initiating various project development, scope definition, and design review meetings with clients. Development of cost estimates, design / construction schedules, budgets. Supervised the design engineering efforts, prepared construction bid packages, checked work packages. Provided construction / startup support in food processing plants.
Performed in the capacity of a Manufacturers Representative. Coordinated with plant production managers, engineers, and operations personnel in an effort to resolve D.O.T. railcar unloading nonconformance issues.
Performed in the capacity of a Demolition Project Coordinator. Developed a $2MM chemical plant piping and equipment demolition plan.
Performed in the capacity of design supervisor / checker on small capital projects geared toward oil and gas production and transmission constructed the Bakken region of North Dakota.
Performed as a piping / mechanical technical inspection specialist for dry / wet commissioning of a crude oil railcar unloading facility.
Performed in the capacity of a project coordinator for Consumers Energy Michigan. Coordinated new energy requests for residential, commercial and industrial projects throughout the northwest Michigan counties.
