Administrative Assistant: Waynesburg University Counseling Center August 2015-Present

The Waynesburg University Counseling Center is part of the university’s Student Services Department. It provides personal, academic and career counseling to university students. The center also facilitates the state grant-funded ACT 101 program which provides specialized academic and career-based services to students that are financially and academically eligible.

Update and maintain annual ACT 101 roster by corresponding with university admissions and financial aid offices to obtain and organize data to determine eligibility status for incoming freshman and transfer students.

Keep current course selection sheets for each of the university’s 70+ academic concentrations for distribution to students scheduling courses and for those that are undecided or in need of exploring a different major and/or minor.

Act as the main point of contact for the university counselors: interact with students seeking counseling appointments; coordinate communication between campus security and counselors in emergency student situations; assess and address needs of students; direct flow of counseling appointments and troubleshoot scheduling discrepancies; intercept the needs of parents and professors; maintain the beauty, appeal and overall atmosphere of the office; handle all administrative tasks.

Provide writing, editing and organizational assistance to Student Services senior staff as requested.

Cross-train with other administrative assistants within Student Services to ensure consistent accuracy, flow, and continuity of the department.

Key Achievements:

Composed and distributed the first monthly WU New Student Newsletter that was distributed to all incoming freshman and transfer students from May 2017 through August 2017. The newsletter included dates and time-sensitive information leading up to the fall semester.

Worked closely with the Dean of Students to create, update and maintain a master spreadsheet of all fall 2017 enrolled students to effectively track arrival dates, housing, etc.
