Project Name: Mapping of Rainfall Distribution of Kurnool District Using GIS.

Manipulate, analyze, manage and present all types of geographical data. The acronym GIS is sometimes used for Geographic Information Studies refer to the academic discipline or career of working with geographic information systems and is a large domain within the broader discipline of Geo informatics.

Rainfall is crucial agro-climatologically factor. It is important to analyses the rainfall for cropping and agriculture. The present work deals with the rainfall mapping of Kurnool district using GIS technology. The layout map of Kurnool district is prepared in the jpg format and it is converted into bitmap format. The bitmap format map is imported into ARCVIEW GIS. This layout map is used as background map for digitizing various themes as layers. The layers of 53 mandals of Kurnool district are digitized and attribute tables are prepared. The database which is present in the form of attribute table was queried and data related to different themes is retrieved. The query reports are shown in the layout map and data tables.GIS technology is applied to the entire mandals of Kurnool districts to display the data and information for the past 25 years. It has been found that the integration of GIS will help in identification of maximum and minimum rainfall of 53 mandals over a period of 25 years. Finally Kurnool district is classified based on rainfall data as Normal rainfall, Excess rainfall and Deficient rainfall zones.
