THE DANNON COMPANY
2000–2017
Tapped for various roles to increase production efficiency in engineering and production floor, helping company expand from 3 lines and 8 silos in 2003 to the current 12 lines and 52 silos. Established rapport with Utah Department of Agriculture and served as point of contact and plant representative between the State and plant for 10 years. Experienced with GMP, TPM, SOP, QAR, ISO 9001, 14001, 22000, JIT, SMED.
Process Supervisor (2015–2017)
Managed day-to-day operations of plant-wide ingredient movements and oversaw two-night shift Senior Leads and more than 28 hourly employees.
Reduced Processing area loss due to errors, planning, programming, and procedures from $1.6 million to less than $100,000 by initiating better training material for operators and implementing process improvements using continuous improvements and lean manufacturing skills.
Project Engineer (2010–2015)
Focused on Capital Projects, Product losses, and Continuous Improvement in all engineering projects from fluid milk to finished packaging.
Generated Production area savings of $624,000 by evaluating yogurt loss, rewriting automation code, and optimizing water pushes. This reduced yogurt loss from 2.4% down to 0.2% within 6 months.
Reduced Production minutes downtime loss by 39% by redefining scheduling methods, increasing processing efficiencies, and modifying processes accordingly.
Overcame the challenges of installing new technologies and unproven processing equipment as a drive for company expansion into a new product type.
Achieved company’s first 100% compliance in standard audit improvement process by clearly defining the bid package and implementing continuous improvement practices.
Improved employee safety by installing protective equipment and creating new standards of safety.
Production Supervisor (2007–2010)
Supervised production floor with special assignments & implemented new processes and procedures.
Decreased packaging and finished goods losses across all packaging lines by 4.2% over an 12 month assignment. This was accomplished by using team building and employee development skills.
Increased operating efficiency from 52.8% to 76.4% by identifying losses, increasing preventative maintenance, setting team goals, revising training methods, and using an SQCDM application.
Approached by and assisted State of Utah to rewrite licensing tests for pasteurizer operators.
Engineering Manager (2003–2007)
Managed budget and development of all projects. Involved in project design, overviews, drafting, and communication with vendors.
Eliminated 500+ gallons of Caustic use and 600+ gallons of Acid use annually by redesigning the plants water delivery system. This redesign removed the need to daily clean the system and tied the system to the filler CIP, also eliminating 8 hours of weekly downtime on fillers.
Increased production by 2 hours daily across all lines by instigating approval process for PMO valves to be cleaned with equipment instead of separately.
Enhanced yogurt flow rate to 160% by boosting capacity of yogurt cooling system, which added flexibility in batch sizes and process timing.
Created better traffic flow and optimized material handling and delivery by streamlining end packaging areas and reducing operator’s work area.
Processing Manager (2000–2003)
Reduced fruit and yogurt losses by 2.2% through installation of rotary filler, which included process design, packaging layout, implementation, and programing.
SHAMROCK FOODS COMPANY
1988–2000
Processing & Packaging Supervisor
Supervised the day to day operations of the dairy division, which included all packaging, milk & ice cream processing, soft cheese manufacturing, and seasonal products.
