Worked with IPD Engineering in Syracuse, New York as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer on industrial facility (HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection) projects. Provided construction documents, specifications and drawings.

Worked with Emcor Services – Betlem in Rochester, New York as a Senior Energy Engineer in evaluating and reducing client’s energy consumption and maximizing equipment efficiencies through energy conservation evaluations/measures as well as utilizing federal, state and local utility incentive programs.

KRAFT FOOD GROUPS, INC. (Kraft Heinz), Avon, NY Manufacturing Facility

Senior Project Engineer [May – August 2015]

Recruited for short-term assignment to provide critical engineering and design leadership for an invigorated, significantly stalled installation and startup of a new $4M robotic palletizer system, including a pallet dispenser, in-feed, and cell conveyors, transfer car, and wrapping system for Kraft’s Cool Whip product. Acquired by Heinz in July 2015, the Kraft portfolio comprises iconic global brands and is now the third largest food and beverage company in North America and the fifth largest worldwide. The key success achieved with this project lead to the reversal of an earlier decision to close the Avon plant.


Senior Contract Consulting Mechanical Design Engineer / Project Manager [2008 – 2013]

Worked with Aerotek, Kelly Services, Adecco and Stantec Consulting as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer / Project Manager on a wide variety of facility (HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection) construction and product development projects.

Project Highlights:

CORNING GLASS - BEIJING, CHINA HVAC PROJECT: As a Project Manager IV contracted through Adecco Technical Services, successfully reviewed and approved the mechanical/HVAC contract documents provided by the Chinese design contractor for a new glass manufacturing facility in Beijing, China. Additionally installed window units for the chiller plants.

WILSON GREATBATCH LCMS PROJECT: Served as Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the engineering design of a $50M HVAC systems program involving the installation of several cleanrooms used in the manufacturing and production of medical components.

CARRIER CORPORATION UNITED TECHNOLOGIES PROJECT: As a Product Development Engineer contracted by Kelly Services, oversaw the engineering and design development of the mechanical/control equipment for a new CO2 (R-744) refrigerated container unit at Carrier’s Syracuse, NY-based engineering and design center. Designed, reviewed, tested, and approved component parts used in the production of these units. Additionally performed new product design for Carrier.

NORWICH PHARMACEUTICALS: Served as a Construction Project Manager contracted by Aerotek Staffing Agency for NP’s Facility Engineering Group. Had oversight for the planning, organizing, and managing of capital improvement projects, following cGMP practices and FDA compliance in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical drugs and compounds, which included a full range of solid dose manufacturing and packaging capabilities with flexible containment solutions for potent compounds. Duties included the design and analysis of projects, preparation of construction documents, bidding, negotiations, sub-contractor selection, material purchasing, scheduling, project budgets, building code and regulatory compliance, project development, quality control, and site management through certificates of occupancy.

OSWEGO HOSPITAL: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for HVAC design/renovation of the Emergency and Imaging Departments, Infection Control/Isolation Rooms, Administration, and Third Floor Laboratories and Patient Rooms.

NIAGARA FALLS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Provided construction administration services for the mechanical systems of a new terminal building.

THE COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for the HVAC design/renovation of Smith Hall, utilizing fan coil, introduction units, and new air handling units providing temperature and humidity control.

CORNING, INC: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for HVAC upgrades and renovations.

CITY OF TOLEDO WATER TREATMENT PLANT: Performed a building condition assessment investigating the cause of severe corrosion of the concrete building structure over the enclosed filtration and equalization basins due to high humidity and moisture. Designed a desiccant dehumidification system to control moisture levels below dew point within spaces.

NIAGARA FALLS WATER BOARD WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT: Performed a plant HVAC energy study for the largest municipal physical chemical activated carbon facility in the U.S. (35 buildings, 115,680 square foot, 37 mgd). Provided recommendations for improvements (ECM’s) and renovations.

GENERAL ELECTRIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT: Provided mechanical design and drafting (3D Modeling) for the tank farm addition and piping modifications. Design work included specifications, construction documents, and cost estimates for the above ground tanks, pumps, piping, and controls.

ROSWELL PARK CANCER CENTER: Responsible for preliminary HVAC and plumbing design to retrofit Building 901 as the new IT Server Room for the hospital.

RICH PRODUCTS Multiple Locations (TN, CA, VA, NY): Project Engineer for the preparation of an OSHA PSM for worker-safety and USEPA RMP to meet air regulations and conduction of periodic compliance audits regarding the same. Reviewed and evaluated process safety and engineering design issues associated with two ammonia refrigeration systems, each containing 20,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia. Provided offsite consequence analysis, written SOP’s and maintenance procedures, and the development of recordkeeping and emergency response plans for the facility.

ERIE COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER: Performed commissioning of two air-handling units that were rebuilt after smoke damage caused by a fire in the hospital’s laundry room. A commissioning report was developed as well as load calculations to rebalance the machines.

DASNY-OMH BRONX PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL: Designed a ventilation system to remove exhaust fumes from a drying oven and capture hood assembly for silk screening in the print shop. Performed an evaluation of the campus domestic water system to determine code compliance for backflow prevention.

ITT INDUSTRIES SPACE SYSTEMS DIVISION (Formerly Kodak Remote Sensing Systems): Retrofitted four air handling units servicing office and production areas (including cleanrooms) with new digital controls, coils, fans, ductwork modifications, and control values.

SUCF – SUNY COLLEGE AT POTSDAM: Lead Design Engineer on the asbestos abatement and replacement of two boilers, deaerator, condensate tank, cooling tower, and all associated piping for the heating plant on the SUNY Potsdam campus. Scope included the development of drawings, specifications, and estimates. Provided engineering support during the bidding and construction phases.

GSA FEDERAL BUIDINGS Multiple Locations (Buffalo and Binghamton, NY): Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for the second floor expansion of the U.S. Probation Offices and Project Manager for the asbestos abatement in the Dulski Federal Building. Additionally worked with a local mechanical contractor on pressure testing and repair of the main fire lies at the Defense National Stockpile Center (DNSC).

SENECA NATION OF INDIANS-NIAGARA FALLS CONVENTION & CIVIC CENTER: Performed a building conditions assessment of the HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems as well as developed renovation costs for the conversion of the Civic Center into a gambling casino. Designed a snowmelt system for the casino’s main entrances.

NEW YORK STATE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT: Performed building condition surveys as mandated by the State Education Department relative to the mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for all of the elementary, middle, and high schools in the Syracuse City School District.

GREATER ROCHESTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Senior Design Engineer responsible for the mechanical design of the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. Scope included the $4M, 80,000 square foot construction/relocation of the Air Rescue & Fire Fighting Facility (ARFF) Station.

MONROE COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING FACILITY (Phases I and II): Senior Design Engineer responsible for the mechanical design of the HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. Scope included the construction of an $8M, 60,000 square foot building renovation/new construction. A mechanical condition review and report were written for the existing building prior to design. Phase II involved the construction of a new aircraft rescue and fire fighting training facility and control tower building along with various training props, including a fuel spill tanker, two simulated aircraft fire trainers, and two burn buildings.

NEW YORK CITY DEP: Project Engineer responsible for the design, review, and preparation of mechanical/piping, process, and instrumentation drawings for Contract II and III of the NYCDEP Zebra Mussel Control Facility Project. Work included the installation of new sodium hypochlorite/sodium bisulfite feed systems, improvements of existing gas chlorination systems, and the installation of underwater chemical feed piping and diffusers. Facilities conveyed up to 600 mgd.

NEW YORK STATE ENERGY OFFICE: Project Engineer responsible for providing technical support in the development of feasibility studies, energy audits, and the commissioning of several previously funded projects throughout NYS.

NEW YORK CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION: Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for the preparation of mechanical specifications for the School Construction Authority to provide maintenance to New York City’s 1200 public schools.

UNION CARBIDE CORP. RHONE POULENC INC. (Agricultural Productions Division): Senior Environmental Project Engineer responsible for upgrading the plant to meet government regulations and to work with the community to assure safety and reduce the risk posed by chemical plant operations. Projects included a $5M capital project to upgrade the plant’s landfill to meet RCRA regulations as well as the installation of a sludge dewatering facility. Worked closely with agencies such as the EPA, APCC, and the DNR to meet government regulations proposed by CERCLA, NAAQS, EPCRA,TSCA, and SARA Title III (Superfund). Performed finite element modeling and computerized stress analysis of piping and components for weight, thermal, and displacement loading including vibration analysis and fatigue evaluations.

UNION CARBIDE CORP. (Chemicals & Plastics Division): Senior Maintenance Engineer responsible for providing troubleshooting and machinery reliability improvement activities to seven operating units that manufactured specialty petrochemicals; seven energy system units providing steam, water, air nitrogen, and oxygen to the plant, as well as two shipping buildings, two tank farms, and several tank car/tank truck loading racks. Acquired extensive experience with boiler feed systems, pumps, cogeneration systems, turbines, compressors, et al. Further responsible for a $16.5M capital project to refurbish the steam plant utilizing state-of-the-art technology and boiler controls. Monitored ESP emissions.
