Systems Architect – Life Sciences IT Plan & Implementation, University of Missouri System 7/2003 – 7/2004

Responsible for leadership, planning, and implementation of MU’s Life Sciences IT architecture, including, but not limited to the following duties:

Implement the LSC IT plan within the planned timeline and within budget. This highly advanced technological building has been operational since September 17, 2004 with several scientific units and a local IT team.

Form and lead an IT sub-committee to discuss the various technical IT needs in a smaller IT technical groups.

Initiate a primary list (including an implementation time frame) of IT needs for all 10 units in the LSC.

Conduct IT needs assessment interviews with ten key people with LSC units about their IT needs

Initiate a tentative list of isolated and recurring expenses for IT in the LSC including IT plan whitepaper and hiring plan for the two IT staff positions by writing job descriptions, organizing a hiring search committee, and ultimately hiring senior IT staff.

Systems Administrator – Technical Manager, University of Missouri System 2/1994 – 7/2000

Responsible for providing leadership, planning, and management to both MU’s UNIX Systems Support team and MU’s Central UNIX team . This includes but is not limited to the following:

Support services including but are not limited to: Kerberos and radius authentication for campus email, Single Sign-On (SSO) for user account management, web and application hosting with over 40,000 users, and 50 critical applications, WebCT and Blackboard course management systems, university-wide data warehouse, campus-wide ID card system, statistical application server, campus backup and recovery system, NIS and NFS servers, and LISTSERV.

Consolidation of two UNIX teams in to one resulting in budget saving for the University.

Create a new UNIX services support program designed to provide campus departments with UNIX systems an effective way to share resources, take advantage of the economies of scale and reduce total cost of ownership based on a cost recovery business model. Under this program the College of Engineering was able to consolidate their systems and services resulting in over $200,000 in annual savings.

Lead the effort to plan, design, acquire hardware and deploy a campus-wide implementation of Blackboard course management system supporting over 24,000 students.

Lead the effort to plan, design, and acquire hardware to upgrade the campuses central ID Card transaction system.

Deliver 99.997% overall availability on UNIX systems administered under my direction during the period fiscal year 2001-2002.

In charge of campus DNS(NOC), Net-News, Modem authentication(Tacacs), On Line Phone and E-mail Directory(CSO) systems administration.
