EXPERIENCE
BuckISERV, various cities Trip participant, trip leader
March 2015, January 2016, March 2016, December 2016, PRESENT
BuckISERV is an alternative break program run by the Ohio State University Office of Student Life. They send groups of students to cities around the country during spring, winter, and summer breaks to serve with various social justice organizations for a week. Their mission statement is to have students travel, learn, and serve. I’ve been on 4 trips and will go on my 5th trip in December. I’ve worked with soup kitchens and homeless shelters in New York City. I’ve also worked with AIDs clinics, food banks, and a medical supply shipment center in Atlanta. Another trip I went on was to Newark,New Jersey to serve with United Way by helping out in city schools and afterschool programs for school-age kids. The trip I will be going on this year will be focused on environmental issues, specifically coastal ecosystems in Florida. BuckISERV has taught me a lot about various social issues that are prevalent in our society. These experiences have also made me a better leader as well as a more inspired citizen for social justice.

Phi Gamma Delta, Columbus Brother, Service Committee Chair
January 2016 - PRESENT
Phi Gamma Delta, more commonly known as FIJI, is a social fraternity at Ohio State and many colleges across the country. Our chapter has over 100 brothers-all undergraduates at Ohio State. I developed personally and professionally from my experiences as a brother in this fraternity. I have served as a philanthropy committee member and as Service Committee Chair. As the 2017 service committee chair, I planned and organized service events for the brothers to take part in. I led events such as MLK Day of Service, OWL student move-in, Fiji Day of Service, and many smaller service events. I also started Fiji Mentors. Fiji Mentors volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus. We go there on two days of the week to help kids with homework as well as lead physical recreation activities.

Worked in the Generation Rx Laboratory at the Center of Science and Industry. I led experiments and performed shows to families to demonstrate the importance of medical conditions and proper medication use, under the supervision of the lab PI.
Camp Recky, Columbus Camp Counselor
May 2016 - August 2017
Camp Recky is a ten week-long day summer camp run by Ohio State University’s Office of Recreational Sports. I was a counselor for sports camp in the morning and Kids-on-the-Move in the afternoon. For sports camp, each counselor would get a different age group to instruct the sport that week focused on. I taught the basics of sports such as tennis, baseball, flag football, and soccer to kids ranging from 5 to 13 years of age. For KOTM camp, I led groups of 4th to 6th graders in games and activities such as capture the flag and swimming competitions.
The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus Restful Nights Volunteer
January 2015 - August 2016
As a volunteer for the Restful Nights program at The James, my role was to provide amenities to the patients of the hospitals to make their stay more comfortable. I did this by pushing a cart stocked with amenities with three other volunteers to various floors of the hospital to offer to patients. Every night, we’d visit three to four floors. The volunteers would divide the rooms so each volunteer would interact with the patients one-on-one. We offered amenities from lotion to sleeping aids to neck pillows. We were also trained to give hand massages.
