Synopsis : Gloss, Global Settlement System, is the software system used by institutional brokers to facilitate the settlement of trades they do on behalf of their clients. It is “back-office” system which receives the trade details from front-office, ideally as a feed as and when the trade happens. There is also a facility to feed the trades manually into the system. Gloss is not used for trading activities. Trading happens outside of Gloss and details of trade are input into Gloss system. Gloss facilitates the settlement process and it mirrors the trade settlements happened at the depository.
