Prepare and make presentations regarding tax law and audit process to outside businesses and organizations including trade associations and practitioners.
Support and assist hardware and software updates and testing on training laptops.
Develop audit process efficiencies, and writing of audit policies and procedures.
Audit independently, or as a team leader, complex audits of business entities for the various Florida taxes administered by the Department, specializing in electronic auditing.
Perform pre-audit analysis and develop audit plans and procedures to determine the most efficient and effective manner to conduct the audit.
Initiate correspondence with the taxpayer and/or their representative to request information for refund audit, secure evidence and documentation required to substantiate the refund request, and explain the refund process to the taxpayer.
Determine the need for examinations of related entities and coordinate with supporting team members the scope of audits.
Examine and analyze accounting systems for certain industries, for indication of additional liability or possible tax evasion.
Assist taxpayers’ management in the proper administration of Florida Tax Statutes, and to verify funds in the case of tax overpayment.
Prepare detailed reports of audit results and make recommendations for taxpayer compliance. Compute tax assessment or adjustment based on evidence and data found.
Make recommendations for improvement in taxpayers’ accounting, or internal controls, as it related to audit findings and Florida Tax Statutes.
