As a qualified fitter my role involved installing, maintaining, setting-up and repairing of machinery and equipment in the fastening and steel industry. Responsible for setting up of single-die and multi-die cold-heading machinery for the production of fastening tools and other metal parts. I was required to construct and assemble component parts for these machinery, marking off material to scale according to precise measurements from the blueprints and other engineering drawings. The metal is then shaped into it’s final form through the use of grinding machinery, lathe, honing and drilling in order to perform pneumatic extrusion. I performed on the job maintenance during the production process ensuring the machinery operates at it maximum capacity to meet deadlines. I conducted quality control checks in accordance with 9002 bureau, to ensure a high quality standard is maintained in each production line through the use of Vernier micro-metre gauges and other precision measuring equipment. Safety training and procedures also formed a vital part of my role along with supervision and training of other staff members. Company Name Electronic Design Labs (Pty) Limited

Position Held Mechanical Designing and Machining

Period August 1986 – June 1988

Reason for Leaving Temporary contract

My role entailed designing sketches, marking up and creating scaled mechanical drawings for the manufacturing of medical equipment. Also involved in the maintenance and operation of milling machinery to machine metal and other solid materials based on the pre-existing design. I was also frequently required to take on the role of Warehouse Supervisor, overseeing staff and various procedures in the manufacturing process.
