Ample diverse professional geological experience in oil and gas exploration and production for PDVSA (Petróleos de Venezuela S.A.), the Integrated Reservoir Division of Core Lab (USA), the Exploration Department of Petronas Carigaly Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia), and the Exploration and Production Department of Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia).


To serve as a clastic sedimentologist expert integrating stratigraphic, sedimentological, petrographic, geochemical and reservoir engineering data, in order to develop 3D models that will provide my employer with the knowledge to make the best decision regarding oil or gas fields exploration and to design the most suitable exploitation plans.

Laboratory management.

Technical writing, including design of material for presentation on the computer screen.


Computer Literacy: Use of MS Windows based office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Adobe Acrobat, Canvas, Statistica, Scion Image, Photoshop, Touchstone (diagenetic modelling), and several others image processing software packages. Fluent use of Openworks, Stratworks and Zmap (Oracle based geological Landmark systems). Use of POWERLOG. Comfortable use of PETREL and WellCad/CoreCad.

Laboratory Equipment: XRD, including state of the art software. SEM with different attachments, including SEM-CL. Petrographic microscopes with different attachments including Hot-CL and Fluid Inclusions stages. Also, Extensive use of PETROG (petrographic data collection software).

08/2013-03/2017: TECHNICAL PROJECT LEADER: Main Sedimentologist. In charge of the integration of sedimentary and stratigraphic data from 3D seismic (5 cubes), core description and analyses (152 cored wells, 36000 ft), well to well correlations (740 wells) of Central Arabia Subbasin (18 different super light oil and gas fields), covering an area of 15000 Km2. The product delivered was a regional sedimentary model of the Unayzah group, including fuids a properties distributions.

10/2005-08/2012: FIELD DEVELOPMENT GEOLOGIST. In charge of the development and maintenance of potential of Central Arabia (including Nuayyim, Hawtah, Ghinah, etc. fields. Clastic sediments) and Khurais (Including Khurais, Abu Jifan and Mazalij fields. Carbonates) complexes of oil fields with a total combined production of 1.7 MMBOPD, by means of using an integrated reservoir description, including building static model, a dynamic model, petrophysical model, geostatistical model and simulation model to place wells. Working with a team of geologists, geophysicist and reservoir engineers. Member of the Geosteering Operations Center, working in carbonate and clastic fields throughout Saudi Arabia.

05/2004-09/2005: STAFF SEDIMENTOLOGIST. Working as a consultant in applied sedimentology to exploration in projects carried out in the Cuu Long Basin of Offshore Vietnam, The Malay Basin, Offshore Malaysia and the Caspian Sea and Western Turkmenistan basin. Created a new model of sedimentary infill for Cuu Long basin directly applied to field development. Studied the tectonostratigraphic evolution of the Caspian Basin, including extensive fieldwork and integration of several disciplines to discerne the different petroleum systems active in the area.

03/2003-05/2004: STAFF GEOLOGIST: Integrated Reservoir Division of Core Laboratories. Geological reservoir characterization, including core description, sedimentary model construction, petrographic analysis and petrophysical analysis resulting in completion recommendations. Fields studied include Cavazos Field, Sheridan Field, of Texas and Campos Basin of Brazil.

08/1998-12/2002: MAIN SPECIALIST IN SEDIMENTOLOGY: Leader of the project “Diagenetic Modelling in Exploration Areas” whose main objective consisted on predicting porosity ahead of drilling by means of modeling quartz cementation and rock mechanical compaction.

Leader of 6 projects on integrated Static models (W-6 Area, Lake Maracaibo; Ceuta Field, Lake Maracaibo; Cerro Negro Area, Orinoco Oil Belt; Zuata Field, Orinoco Oil Belt; Morichal Field, Orinoco Oil Belt; SINCOR Area, Orinoco Oil Belt) whose main objective was to provide a structural, stratigraphic, lithological and petrophysical model to be used in reservoir simulation and exploitation planning.

Technical leader of a group of 25 sedimentologists working in both production and exploration for oil and gas. Main duties include carrer planning and development, evaluation of perfomance and tutoring.

Representation of PDVSA in technical consortia (including Reservoir Quality Consortium. Previously, Exemplar Consortium).

1994-1998: LEAVE OF ABSENCE. University of Wyoming. Work on gas exploration, sweetspots characterization and sedimentology in several Rocky Mountain Basins of Colorado and Wyoming. I couldn't complete the thesis because all the material was stolen from me..

1988-1994: SEDIMENTOLOGIST Participant in multiple projects in sedimentological characterization of reservoirs and diagenesis of the El Furrial trend (North of Monagas, Eastern Venezuelan Basin). Description of more than 15.000 feet of core and more than 1200 thin sections. Among other achievements, the determination of K-T boundary by mineralogical analysis was the first ever done in the area, even before paleontological analysis were performed.
