Component sizing like engine sizing, motor sizing, battery sizing was done considering various driving cycles, performance requirements and required range.
A MATLAB code was written to achieve all the modes of a series hybrid vehicle and the propulsion power, regenerative power and soc for a driving cycle.
The engine power and battery power was controlled such that there is minimum energy consumption for each instance in a driving cycle and achieved 61 Mpg in EPA-City cycle, 52 Mpg in EPA-Hwy, 58 Mpg in US06.
