As a highly committed senior cost engineer, with a comprehensive background managing project costs for large-scale engineering and construction projects in the oil & gas and industrial sectors, I am writing to express my interest in your current open position. Meticulously organized and results-focused, I bring extensive expertise in the disciplines required to fulfill the database management and performance reporting function for a complex organization. You will find that I possess an uncompromising work ethic and add value with the depth of my financial forecasting, budgeting, and analytical skills.
Most recently a Senior Project Controls Specialist with KEM Engineering subcontracted to Rio Tinto to serve as a client representative to supervise EPCM subcontractor Jacobs Engineering on Rio Tinto’s mining project located in Boron, CA.
Prior to KEM served as a Senior Project Controls Specialist with the Fluor Corporation, a leading provider of engineering, procurement, and project management expertise worldwide ($23B in revenue), I executed, led, and implemented the cost management process for large-scale international and domestic assignments primarily for oil & gas clients. I constructed and coded sophisticated cost databases using SAP and proprietary company software, to prepare robust reports utilized by senior management to monitor client project spending. My work involved continuous interaction with internal and external stakeholders, and required strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and strategy execution to succeed. In an effort to maintain awareness of changes and trends to my particular practice, I conducted my own ongoing research by diligently reviewing industry literature and sharing information with peers across my network. The following are examples of the competencies that will enable me to quickly contribute to your team:
Undaunted by hard work, I rose through the Fluor Corporation to increasing levels of influence and responsibility after developing strong knowledge of best practices in cost reporting and controls in completing close to 20 large-scale, multi-million, and multi-billion dollar builds for clients that included BASF, Sunoco, NEC, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Positive and proactive, I trained, mentored, and motivated junior resources at Fluor and was recognized as a subject expert on effective cost database construction using SAP. My efforts translated to consistent success on all projects assigned, and I earned several awards for my performance and positive contributions.
An untiring learner, I continually seek personal development challenges at every opportunity. I continually pursue ongoing professional training to remain fully aware of the new technologies, financial tools, and managerial concepts. At Fluor I completed internal courses in change management and advanced reporting.
With a well-rounded set of quantitative, project management, and interpersonal skills, I am confident that I would make a substantial and meaningful impact to your company. I would be pleased to have the opportunity to review my credentials with you in a personal interview. Please feel free to contact me at the number listed above to arrange a time to speak.
Sincerely,
Susan G. Sullivan
