BIO OF MICHAEL BRENNEN
Michael Brennen, born in Nassau, Bahamas, moved to the United States for post-secondary studies; he has resided and studied in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Academic achievements include a Master of Science degree in Teaching Chemistry (1995) from Florida Atlantic University, a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry (2008) from Palm Beach Atlantic University, along with other diplomas and certificates from non-degree programs of study. After more than 30 years in his secular career, Water Treatment Chemistry, he retired in 2012 from the City of Boca Raton’s Utility Services.
He currently resides in Delray Beach, Florida, where he has lived since 1982, integrating personal and family life into the fabric of the South Florida region. Michael is married to Barbara Wilson Brennen, and together they have six children.
His spiritual vocation began in the St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Nassau, Bahamas. Over the years he served in a variety of ministries, which include:
He was as an active member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Delray Beach, Florida, where he completed the Diaconate Preparation Program conducted by the Episcopal Diocese of SE Florida. He continues to work closely with this church.
Along with wife, Barbara, they have been involved in several faith-based ministries in South Florida: pioneer members of the Circle of Prayer Ministries, Delray Beach; founders of the home-based church fellowship, Absalom Jones Ministry, Delray Beach; pioneer and active members of the prayer and study group, Agape Love Fellowship, Riviera Beach.
In 2005 he was received into Ebenezer Wesleyan Methodist Church, Delray Beach, as Assistant Pastor under Bishop R.L. Howard.
In 2008, he responded to the call to become Pastor at St. Marys Wesleyan Methodist Church, Miami, and served there until July 2015.
He currently serves as Presiding Bishop of the United Christian Wesleyan Methodist (UCWM) Diocese of South Florida.
In keeping with the vision of the Diocese – Engaging and equipping churches to reach and bring the unchurched into the Body of Christ – Bishop Brennen remains involved with several community targeted initiatives in the South Florida. These include Prayer Meetings, Vacation Bible Schools, Christian Leadership Workshops, Ecumenical Worship Services, and Outreach Ministries.
