University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign Dec 2018 Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• Dean’s List (Fall 2016)
EXPERIENCE
CATERPILLAR Force Modelling- Champaign, IL June 2017 – Present
• Worked on a project for Caterpillar Inc. and developed a program which predicted the forces acting on a cutting tool on a face mill, thereby determining whether certain cutting conditions are feasible
• Calibrated the code taking into account multiple cutting edges and workpiece dimensions and developed a graphical representation of the various force components
• Ran several tests with the milling machine under different conditions and formulated an equation to find the specific cutting pressure
• Superimposed the real time forces onto the simulated force map to determine whether the cutting insert needs replacement
• Designed a lab project integrating Creo and Matlab so that students can design a workpiece in Creo and use Matlab to simulate the forces for different cutting conditions
ALUMINIUM BAHRAIN (ALBA)- Manama, Bahrain Dec 2016 – Jan 2017 Intern
• Attended a month long training at ALBA (One of the biggest Aluminium smelters in the world) in the power maintenance division
• Trained at various sectors of a combined cycle gas turbine power plant including RO plants, auxiliary section and the gas turbine itself
• Observed the assembly of a six-stage centrifugal pump and inspections of GE’s Frame 5 gas turbine and ALSTOM’s GT13E2 machine
PROJECTS
Microstructures Project - Champaign, IL July 2017 – Present
• Collected samples from different sections of a cast aluminum tub and finely polished them
• Analyzed the polished samples under a microscope to examine the surface grain structure at different locations ZENITH Project, Student Aircraft Builders (SAB)- Champaign, IL Sept 2016 – July 2017
• Built a full size Zenith STOL CH 750 aircraft from sheet metal throughout the time span of the project
• Collaborated with the Build Team to assemble the forward fuselage using machine tools Chill Now- Champaign, IL Jan 2017- May 2017
• Worked effectively with 5 members in a design project to build a machine that would spin soda cans on an ice mould and chill them within a few seconds
• Designed the CAD model and helped with the ‘Can-Loading’ and spinning mechanisms TECHNICAL SKILLS
CAD/ CAM Packages: PTC Creo Parametric, Solid Edge, ANSYS Fluent, Solidworks, Autodesk Fusion 360 Other Software: Microsoft Office, MATLAB, Scilab, Adobe Photoshop Programming Languages: C/C++, Python
