Bahria Town PLC- Icon Tower Complex, Karachi. April 2014-April 2017 Project Type: Mixed use of Retail Mall, Offices, Apartments with Health Centers and Swimming pool, Restaurants, 3 Cineplex theatre

Project Value: €X million. At over 300 meters tall it qualifies as global mega structure and as Pakistan’s tall est building it is the company’s flagship project. The final cost is dependent on the FF and E as required by the tenants and stakeholders.

Role: Chief Architectural Consultant, Client Side. As Head Projects Development Department I was one of two owner side project managers responsible for the day to day running of the building works and monitoring the project management company’s progress reports. Meetings to resolve issues. My partner,as a structural engineer and I, as architect, made complimentary colleagues. Involvement: Overseeing and co-ordination of all Architect, MEP and structural consultant’s drawings to ensure and conformity and ensure quality of design to owner’s vision. Answering RFIs. Altering and designing areas in AutoCad to demonstrate owner’s requirements. Re-designing all areas in response to the owner’s re-evaluation of the use of the complex due to market requirements

Document controller: All drawings and documents in any format on a page by page basis All "Issued for Construction" documents had to bear my electronic stamp before issue. Issued drawings were then uploaded to the company’s main database at head office.

Current Status: The project retail mall is due to open this spring and a phased opening of the main tower in summer. The apartment tower will be available in autumn this year. Consisting of a 60 story apartment and offices tower, a 40 story apartment tower with a 10 story mall. The whole complex sits on 7 basement parking floors. The main tower stands over 300 meters, I modified the layouts of levels 48-55 to create apartments. All to international standards for a B2 seismic risk area with international standards for construction and materials. Structural engineers- WSP Dubai. As part of the scheme the client built 2 Km of road with 3 bridges and 2 underpasses. Included are 3 Cineplex cinemas, food court, 4 restaurant floors, health spa, gymnasiums and rooftop swimming pool. I was responsible for the design and drawing work to illustrate client intention. Due to market forces it was decided to change the use of the hotel tower and 24 floors of the main office tower to serviced apartments. This required extensive interior redesign. The consultant architects were unable to carry out the design work, therefore I took over the responsibility of the redesign and drafting of the new floor layouts with the extensive planning, structural, MEP and VT alterations required. I took the opportunity to add one retail floor and one apartment floor as story heights were revised to reflect the change of use, thus increasing the net lettable/ saleable floor areas. Data Center

I Chaired weekly progress and design meetings with the project management team, consultants and building contractors. I was the point of contact for:

• Communication with project managers.

• All email communications with consultants on a daily basis,

• Answering RFIs and coordinating flow of documents between consultants.

• Specification and selection of finishing materials and hardware.

Position: Site Architect / FF&E manager for this flagship building. Responsibilities: As Grey structure was only 80% complete I was involved in completion of civil works, supervised site works, render, screeds, tiling, coordinating M&E and plumbing installation, I identified and resolved conflicts to ensure ceiling levels maintained. Construction and finishing of a mock-up room to act as quality standard. Completion of Civil works, Fit-out of main kitchen, 3 cold rooms installation, fire stopping by specialists. Co-ordination of partition walls, complex M&E ducting and suspended ceilings, responsible for finishes, installing industrial grade kitchen equipment. Installation of cold rooms.

Fire encasement of all structure in Great Hall. Plumbing and partitioning of toilets, and sanitary equipment installation.

I created Room Books to locate furniture on a room by room basis. 8,600 furniture items to be be distributed over 350 rooms. Co-ordinating 11 suppliers to ensure correct delivery, inspection and storage of all furniture items.

UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL, DUBAI

Two building on a plaza covering 3 stories of car parking. The buildings comprise a 5 storey administration block with an 18 storey hospital which includes a 4 storey podium. Responsible for all Architectural RFI's and checking the 1000 odd drawings for QA/QC. The drawings were produced by our Sidney office and much communication is done via our own Lotus Notes web based system off a Citrix secured platform.

Acting as client's agent to ensure the completion of the £52 million finishes contract of the five star, 500 bedroom Magic Kingdom Hotel, the flagship hotel of six on the Euro Disney Park. Responsible for overseeing the completion. Responsible for quality control / quality assurance of all finishing trades i.e.: spray plastering, plumbing, joinery, electrical, HVAC, paperhanging, painting, carpet laying, furniurnture and fittings installation.
