NARRATIVE

During my MSW program I conducted 40-hour drug/alcohol educational programs (NASAP) for active duty Navy men and women who had been convicted of DUI or possession of illegal drugs.

Portsmouth CSB Coordinator of the Substance Abuse Prevention Program. Designed and implemented programs, community presentations to audiences of all ages.

First Social Worker at the Virginia Beach Corrections Center, and was able to determine my role. I provided crisis intervention, mental status exams, short-term counseling and medication referral.

Mental health prescreener for Norfolk CSB Mental status exams in the community to determine mental competence, and danger to self or others. Testifying in court to substantiate the involuntary hospitalization.

Tidewater Psychiatric Institute Coordinator of the Crisis Care Center in Virginia Beach. Community presentations, radio and television programs to discuss a variety of topics: depression, suicide, multiple personality disorders, seasonal depression, stress management, etc. Manager of the Labor Employee Assistance Program. Coordinated intakes, case management, and referral development. Co-developed and facilitated 12-Step aftercare program.

First Colonial Psychological Center Psychotherapist. Supervision for licensure.

Navy Family Services Short-term dynamic therapy with active duty military members.
