Research Assistant and Volunteer Training Coordinator Oct. 2014 – Present UCSD Huntington’s Disease Clinical Research Center
- Organize and catalogue data from clinical research, behavioral questionnaires, cognitive assessments, and observational studies with data entry
- Maintain HIPAA compliant filing systems and electronic databases to ensure the security of information from human subjects
- Determine eligibility and recruit participants according to sponsor specified criteria (successfully increased enrollment by 150% in 3 years)
- Explain study procedures, sponsor support, confidentiality and risks/benefits to study subjects and obtain informed consent
- Prepare and maintain Excel databases of all clinical and experimental data
- Analyze raw data on SPSS and Prism GraphPad to produce statistics updates for weekly research meetings (i.e. descriptive statistics, ANOVA/ANCOVA, correlations, effect sizes, etc.)
- Prepare data and analyses for abstract submissions
- Design and present posters of data updates for conferences (i.e. American Academy of Neurology)
- Interview patients to collect clinically significant behavioral data
- Administer cognitive assessments (MMSE, MoCA, SDM, Verbal/Categorical Fluency, etc.)
- Process, aliquot and store human saliva and blood samples (plasma and buffy coat)
- Review all patient/subject charts, source documents, and study regulatory documents for periodic monitoring visits
- Maintain patient charts to ensure confidentiality of clinical and genetic testing outcomes
- Assist clinical research coordinator with various regulatory tasks for IRB continuing review approval
