SLMA/Bangalore (India) Jul 2008 – Mar 2011

Project Title: SallieMae – Potomac (Banking)

Role: Senior Programmer

Project Description:

The Project SallieMae-Potomac, which was a maintenance project, deals with providing Student loans in the USA. There are different subsystems within this SallieMae like ExportSS, CLASS, OpenNet, and LFM Servicing to mention a few.

ExportSS is a 24*7 system and it supports Loan originations requests by the students in the USA schools. ExportSS main function is to approve, decline or eligible with a reference based on different criteria’s provided by the Credit servicer groups. It supports both real-time loans (transactions from internet, etc), which comes through OpenNet and batch processes which are processed thru the IVRS or thru the School sending the requests on behalf of the students which comes directly to mainframe via batch files.

The project involves analysis, design and implementation of customer business change requirements into the existing ExportSS system – both in online and batch programs. It involves fixing the triage analysis of tickets raised for production support and various maintenance activities of Online and Batch Loans.

Roles and Responsibilities in the project:

Key member in providing Application support and production support

Involved in the Analysis, Estimation for Enhancement work-items, coding, preparing Unit test Plan, unit testing and documentation.

Handled some of the enhancements independently from the stage of Analysis, to testing and implementation.

Responsible for maintaining the Quality standards in all the development and enhancement activities performed, from the stage of Analysis, preparing Design document till testing.

Achievements:

Feb’2010- As part of the regulatory changes in the USA we had the requirements where I was part of the project to code a new CICS Screen which was supposed to display the records of the Loan applicant. This screen has the basic functionality of displaying the records to be fetched from the database which has the connectivity of CICS-DB2.Also there was a critical part in to apply the scrolling functionality if the records exceed the screen capacity.

Jun’2010- FNI is one of the credit servicer which provides the eligibility of the loan applicant whether the loan has to be approved or declined based on the credit factors like Employment details and other credit related details. This was one of the biggest challenges to completely transfer the loan applications originated in the ExportSS to this service provider. As part of the release was able to code a critical module which has to pass the data related to the loan application and related credit information.

This module has to pass the data to a third party agent which in turn passes the data to the FNI in the form of a Java and vis-à-vis the credit decision back to the ExportSS so that the loan credibility can be viewed by the applicant or by the Users.

Won Pat on back award and star of the month award for my contributions in Feb’10 and Jun’10 Release respectively.

My contribution and performance rated as above the peer group in annual performance cycle from last two years.

Earn most number of client appreciations for suggesting creative solutions for complex problems.

I have been awarded Thanks Award by Management for the Jun’10 release for the contributions.

Excellent programming skills and achieving high client satisfaction.

PROJECT SPECIFIC SKILLS: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, REXX, ENDEVOR, INTERTEST, SPUFI,SOA

Oct’2011- As part of the work on the critical SIR which has impacts for 3 more SIRs and closure for the same with exact approach won the Star of the Month award and accolades from the Client team.
