Dear Hiring Committee,
This letter expresses my interest in the Pediatric Physician Assistant position. I am a Physician Assistant student currently in my clinical year of training and will be graduating December 19th, 2018. I will be eligible to take the PANCE in the beginning of January 2019, which I plan to do. This position will be the start of my professional career and I would feel privileged to do so serving the patients of North Carolina. During my clinical year, my pediatric rotation was with North Providence Pediatrics. This is where my passion for pediatric medicine began. I loved being the point of care for the patients while developing connections and seeing the trust that parents put into their pediatrician. I appreciated the compassion and high standards Dr. Ciancaglini practiced with. It inspired me to have that with my future patients. Due to PA school having the primary focus on adult medicine, I arranged to have my elective rotation in the NICU at the University of Kentucky to gain as much experience in a variety of pediatric settings. I felt it was important to experience what a NICU stay could entail not only for the baby but the family as well. In addition, my primary care rotation was with Foley Family Practice, a privately-owned clinic which practiced using the patient-centered medical home model. Having never heard of this model before, I was intrigued to learn more. This model encompasses the principles I hold as standards for myself and I feel lucky to be able to train under a physician who believed in those as well.
Although my experience in medicine is growing, I bring a strong enthusiasm and passion for my career goal of being a Pediatric Physician Assistant. I found joy in my pediatric and NICU rotations and looked forward to every day I had during them. My interest in pediatric medicine is multifactorial and after completing rotations throughout the year, it strengthened my resolve about working in this setting to provide patient-centered care. Again, I will be PANCE eligible after completing my rotations this December. My training has prepared me for success. I feel that my strong desire to work in pediatric medicine and ability to connect with patients while providing compassionate care would help augment an already exceptional organization. I would consider it a privilege to be part of the future of this office.
Enclosed is my resume for your consideration. I welcome the opportunity to discuss with you personally my skills and experience and how I can contribute to the already outstanding reputation of your organization. I want to thank you for taking the time to review my application.
Sincerely,
Cathern Zweifel PA-S
