Primary role set as IT Project Manager to manage a large internal Intranet solution. This involved the following goals:
Build the necessary architecture and environments to utilize SharePoint 2013 as the internal Document Management Solution (DMS).
Utilize client’s existing SharePoint 2010 environment deployed as part of their MS Project Server 2010 workspace.as a migration platform for both Intranet and Project move to 2013 versions. This facilitated a need for a second initiative to both migrate and upgrade SharePoint as well as MS Project to 2013. The spilt role involves managing the Project with a team of new site admins from every participating department. Secondary role involved acting as the primary SharePoint Administrator to establish an internal support structure. . My responsibilities are as follows:
Establish a standard Requirements Gathering platform and provide to the departments
Utilize an iterative approach for project planning amongst the company’s adaptation of Six Sigma strategic goal planning. As such there were 2 methods used during the duration of this 2-year effort. LEAN for the business and Agile for the IT team.
Establish build and deploy plans from requirements gathered for each site collection, then complete from user feedback.
Define the architecture needed for development, staging and production environments and ensure a good disaster recovery plan is in place.
Manage the integration of existing MS Project 2010 migration with the new SharePoint 2013 environments
Report on progress through weekly status reports while soliciting resources as needed from management to stay on track.
Establish project plans for both initiatives (MS Project and SharePoint migrations)
Develop and implement Training material for Admins and Users.
All development is performed through native SharePoint and SharePoint designer. Customizations performed when out of the box features proved inadequate for the solution.
