Sir/Ma’am,
I am highly interested in working for your company. I have several years of experience as a supervisor, both in the military and civilian sectors. I was a Staff Sergeant (E-5) and firefighter in the United States Air Force for nine and a half years. Yes, I am also a veteran. I separated with an Honorable Discharge. During my tour to Bahrain, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, I supervised twenty-two personnel. I also had five personnel that reported to me that I trained and mentored in firefighting operations during my military career. I also prepared and delivered Enlisted Performance Reports (EPR) on my troops. This is the Air Force’s equivalence to performance appraisals.
Once I separated from the military, I worked as a correctional officer for a year at the Charles Bass Correctional Facility in Nashville, Tennessee. During my employment here I had the responsibility to keep the inmates, as well as, other correctional officers and the surrounding community safe and secure. I also was responsible for driving around the city, for their work-release program, to pick inmates up from their place of employment.
I relocated to New London, Connecticut to be closer to my wife’s family. Sheffield Pharmaceuticals Company hired me in as a compounder. We mixed raw materials together to produce toothpastes, ointments, and creams. During my six years of employment with Sheffield I was in charge of the material handling for the compounding department. I staged the raw materials for each batch. I also spearheaded the implementation of a new inventory system for the company. This resulted in very accurate inventory management. Soon afterward, I was promoted to the Second Shift Supervisor. I trained, mentored, and worked with twelve other personnel to make toothpastes, ointments, and creams. I was the supervisor for three years. I was in charge of assigning the personnel to different tasks, training them in the company’s standard operating procedures, making sure the employees had what they needed to complete the tasks with high success, and prepared and delivered performance appraisals.
If you elect to hire me, I can guarantee you nothing but my best. I believe I can bring quite a bit to the company. I will be one of your best assets. I enjoy learning new things, meeting and mingling with other people, and taking on new responsibilities. I currently have a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana Tech. I strongly feel that I would be a great fit for your company.
Sincerely,
Waikel, Dustin F.
