PHILLIP S. BROWN

AML CONSULTANT/FINANCIAL INVESTIGATOR/FRAUD CONSULTANT

During the past year seven years I worked as an Anti-Money Laundering consultant/investigator on several large scale projects involving global banks. In my capacity as an AML investigator I assisted in formulating policy and procedures to investigate and identify alerts. I assisted in the identification of trends in foreign countries that were used to facilitate money laundering. I investigated international wire activities of bank customers to determine if such activity was indicative of money laundering activity. I was involved in special projects, conducting BAU (Business as Usual), “look-backs”, and EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence) investigations. I analyzed and prepared excel worksheets summarizing international wire activity to facilitate analysis of possible money laundering activity. I prepared daily reports of my findings that were used to support various Suspicious Activity Reports (SARS) on such activity when necessary. I have over 6 years' experience in AML and SAR writing and have acquired in-depth knowledge of AML, Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements, Know Your Customer(KYC), BSA and OFAC regulations.

I was also employed as an IRS Special Agent/Federal Law Enforcement Officer for 26 years. In those 26 years I have had an opportunity to investigate cases covering a broad range of criminal activity including income tax, money laundering, BSA (Bank Secrecy Act), and mortgage fraud. These investigations are both complex and challenging because they often contain multiple violations of different federal statutes, which requires an innovative approach to properly investigate all criminal aspects of the case. Investigating these different types of allegations has allowed me to develop expertise in numerous areas including;

Bank Account Analysis Fraud Scheme Recognition

Legal /Tax Research Interviewing Techniques/Debriefing

Report Writing Complex Financial Analysis

Tracing of Assets & Recovery BSA Outreach Training
