NOVTEL. SOUTH AFRICA 2008 - 2013

A Software business that created Software to manage all kinds of rentals which is integrated to Pastel. Property Management, Equipment hire, Hospitality software for Hotels and lodges. They also wrote software to manage Customer relations, Access control, Point of sale and Vehicle hire.

Consultant

Responsible for doing software demonstrations to potential clients.

Installing and setting up the Novtel Software and integrate it to Pastel accounting and setting up the necessary accounts in Pastel.

This also included installing and registering Sage Pastel.

Training new clients to use the software properly, and delivering after sales support.

Fix all clients Network setup and workstations to make sure software operation works properly.

Setting up remote access to client Networks in order to supply support-on-demand, and to enable clients to work remotely, (mostly from the different branches), to their server.

Supplied recommendations to clients on best practices for running I.T. Networks.

Developed an interest in Cisco Networking and started a self-study course and completed the first exam Jan 2012.

Novtel developed software for different kinds of rentals, like

1) Vehicle hire - for vehicle hire companies like "Select car hire"

2) Equipment hire - for renting out construction equipment, Toilet hire software and Plant hire (big earth moving equipment).

3) Property Rentals - for residential and commercial properties

4) Hospitality for Hotels, Lodges etc. This also includes Point of sale, and restaurant and bar software with inventory.

To name only the top programs I helped developed, there are others as well.

All these programs are integrated to the Pastel accounting package.

Some of my tasks were to know these programs well enough to write the manuals for them and to give demonstrations about them to potential clients.

I had several computers at my disposal, with different Microsoft windows operating systems loaded on them.

Whenever the developers team was ready for a new version on any of the above programs, it was my job to take the new upgrade, load it on all these operating systems and operate the program from start to end, documenting the result of each step.

Those results were then passed back to the developers, to either fix the bugs I picked up or to finalize the new version.

We were always more than 1 tester, and a problem with the program goes to the developers only if all the testers get the same problem result.

CMCC COMPUTERS SELF-EMPLOYED CANADA 2006 - 2008

Consulting for various clients. My latest client was an ACE school. The project was to install a new Active Directory Network, complete with Designing: Active directory, the File structure, network Security, Wireless security and backups.

Previous clients included Microsoft Exchange 2003, installed SMTP servers in the DMZ, creating security plans for Exchange that included anything from installing a tier protection system like:

First place the “black box” solution to filter spam and malware,

Secondly secure the SMTP servers by locking them down to receive SMTP messages only,

Third installing an anti-virus that “plugs into” Microsoft exchange running on the exchange server.

I do complete designing, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of active directory, LAN networking and Exchange and handling projects in a team environment. Change control and network documentation is one of my top priorities.

COMARK INC. CANADA 2000 - 2006

Led the team and managed all IT initiatives, as the Senior Technician for the Centre of Excellence (COE). Controlled change management and policies regarding servers and services offered from the Facility Manager in Atlanta USA. The centralization of services was the primary focus then.

Instrumental in the change management process as the holding company systematically divested itself of their banners. Played a key role after the separation when the Facility Manager was moved from Atlanta to Mississauga and an advisory role to the new owners in advising them of their data and systems requirements. Planned and divided equipment and assigned them to the different companies, setting up new services for each new company without interrupting any of those services.

Led many significant projects that were implemented with great success, seamless to users and with no interruption of service:
