PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
The following is a general outline of career responsibilities – encumbering extensive experience in HSE Mining & Marine legislation compliance, HSE and Training management system development, implementation, ongoing management and HSE cultural change management processes. Quality assurance exposure including developing plans and processes, obtaining/maintaining accreditation,
auditing etc.
A critical function of his managerial responsibilities is to supply key stakeholders with timely, up to date and accurate HSE, Risk Management, Training, Auditing & Injury Management advice.
Previous positions include that of project HSE Lead/Senior Manager which required a strong focus on contractor management including the responsibility of several contract companies, large employee remote site camps and several inter-company departments simultaneously. Leadership skills include that of recruiting, training, conducting performance development reviews, and managing HSE teams with the goal of establishing a systematic, efficient and continuous improvement HSE structure and culture.
My direct involvement and leadership skills have contributed to developing a sustainable safety culture in many projects and companies including 200 million man-hours LTI free while conducting high risk work activities in a major hazard facility. Normal operational tasks include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Developing, applying, reviewing & auditing company HSE and quality policies & procedures for compliance, project suitability and alignment with client requirements
(bridging);
• Capture & track statistical information (lead & lag) to monitor and plan HSE initiatives;
• Identify non-compliance by developing and utilising a structured auditing process.
• Develop risk management strategies to identify and mitigate hazards & associated risks in reference to plant and site safety;
• Spending time in the field/on the water with all levels of employees to be aware of the true level of HSE awareness/compliance and to promote and drive a positive safety culture;
• Developing training strategies and auditing these strategies to gage required outcomes;
• Preparing presentations/notices of major HSE initiatives/alterations and the monthly HSE theme/audit focus for site distribution;
• Overseeing hazardous substance and dangerous goods management;
• Preparing and establishing emergency management and business continuity plans;
• Reviewing incident reports, partaking in serious incident investigations, liaising with government/external bodies and initiating corrective actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
