MathWorks – Natick, MA. July 2017 - December 2017
Software Process Specialist Intern
• Implemented DMAIC and A3 problem solving on the Book Club process of Development University department of MathWorks
• Evaluated the current state of the Book Club process using value stream mapping and SIPOC and identified it to be at 1.5σ performance level.
• Identified non-value adding steps and phases where defects were introduced in the Book Club process using 5-whys root-cause analysis
• Devised performance measurement metrics using KPIs and CTQs of the Book Club process
• Implemented process improvement and Lean techniques on the Book Club process such as 5S, mistake proofing (poka-yoke), work standardisation and CAPA which reduced defects and improved process capability to be at 2.54σ level (15% defects)
• Delivered a 5S workspace organisation strategy to guide customers through every step of 5S by applying Lean practices, which helped in workspace improvement activities
• Analysed the feedback received from the MathWorks annual client summit 2017, identified CTQs and provided evidence for the emphasis of improvement in an activity of the summit
• Operated the Book Club process and facilitated 20 new book clubs
• Created and managed different views in a sub-site on SharePoint for the Book Clubs process
• Engaged with senior leaders to identify opportunities supporting the development teams and presented reports against business drivers
Northeastern University Facilities – Boston, MA. April 2018 - August 2018 Transportation and Warehousing Assistant (Quality Control Project)
• Accomplished a DMAIC and Statistical Process Control Project for the Transportation department
• Devised a data measurement system by determining the sample size, sub-group size, sampling interval
• Implemented Statistical analysis to check for normal approximation, computed control limits for x-R and x-S control charts and set up these charts using MINITAB to check for process outliers
• Checked assignable causes for the process outliers and recomputed the control limits for phase-II SPC
• Conducted PFMEA analysis and assigned RPNs to critical failure modes to improve process capability
• Maximized process capability and suggested process improvement & Lean measures such as work standardisation, best practices and detailed work request forms for better work order resolution
• Identified CTQs, determined KPIs and suggested CAPA activities to sustain process improvement.
