April 2013 – May 2018 Pathology Assistant
I worked in a pathology laboratory grossing specimens including frozen sections in preparation for pathologist assessment. I worked closely with the grossing pathologist to accession gross and prepare specimens for assessment. Other job duties included interaction with physicians, nurses and hospital employees to ensure ultrasound and CT biopsies were performed and assessed in a timely manner, including co-ordination and specimen collection. Additional duties included assisting in the histology laboratory mixing, testing and recycling chemicals, inventory check-in and distribution, other duties as assigned.

Nov 2007 - Nov 2012 - Research Assistant II – Psychiatry and Human Behavior/Pediatrics
I worked producing, organizing and analyzing MRI, DTI and other statistical data for 5 Professors in the department of Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Human Behavior and the Center for Functional Onco Imaging. Each professor was interested in studying a different facet of our large MRI and DTI data set. For each of these professors I performed study organization, MRI preprocessing, data analysis, and assisted in preparation of manuscripts, presentations and grants. I devloped unique methods to analyze, present and interpret data.
May 2002 - Dec 2007 - Research Assistant II - Department of Pediatrics
As a team member, I worked on projects; reviewed data security measures to ensure HIPPA compliance and data integrity; collected, organized, analyzed and prepared MRI and PET data as needed, for manuscripts and presentations using various software. I contributed novel methods of analysis for low N studies that culminated in enduring and often quoted scholorly articles.
Apr 2004 - Jul 2006 - Research Assistant II - Center for Functional Onco Imaging (CFOI)
I performed essentially the same duties noted above except that they involved canine subjects. My work was unique in that it was the first viable use of Voxel Based Morphometry in the Canine brain. Because canines follow a similar course of age-related brain degeneration and share a similar environment to humans they are an ideal non-human subject population to use for Alzheimer’s Disease research. I forged a number of lifelong career relationships and was asked to become involved in the “Women and Children's Health and Well-being Project”, included above.
Oct 2000 - Dec 2001 - Human Limbic System Project (Volunteer Position)
I participated in a project to develop a 3D computer model of the human limbic system. The ultimate goal of this project was to produce a holographic artistic representation of the human limbic system to be presented at the ''Image and Meaning Conference'' at MIT in June 2001. The project is described here because it provides evidence of my computer skills, my ability to learn new software, to work effectively within a team environment, to produce results within deadlines, all of which were self-initiated and self motivated.
Jan 1998 - Jan 2000 - Administrative Assistant II - Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)
This position consisted of two distinctly different part-time functions. The first function consisted of standard UCI administrative duties such as filing, typing, ordering/shipping/receiving, greeting members of the public and responding to inquiries, maintaining a Petty Cash and ensuring a smoothly run office environment. As well I assisted in the preparation of grant proposals. The second function involved the construction and maintenance of a graduate applicant database in the ECE graduate advisor's office and to redesign the ECE webpage, as well as other duties not normally performed at the Administrative Assistant II level. I was hired for this project because of my computer skills, knowledge of html, and my ability to work flexibly with diverse personalities.

The cleaning project involved cleaning all the shelves and books in the UCI Main Library and special collections areas after a library renovation (over 1 million books). I brought the project to completion on schedule and within budget.

My duties included assisting the Director of Economic Analysis and Labor Market Development in the preparation of economic/labor market reports and presentations. I published the monthly Labor Market Information newsletter. I performed various research projects intended to keep the department up to date on labor market developments and managed the internal economics library.

Duties included inspection of refurbished telecom products for defects and overseeing production processes to ensure quality goals were being met. I made recommendations for quality improvement and maintained statistical quality control records. I participated in the development of quality manuals. I assisted in packaging and preparing products for shipping to ensure safe delivery. As well, I was the co-chair of the Health and Safety Committee.
From 1978 to 1991 I held a number of part time, summer and after school jobs such as carpet layer's assistant, salad bar re-stocking person, aluminum extrusion worker and 10 years as a part-time and full-time bartender.
