Project Description : The Kashagan field includes the production of crude oil and gas from the reservoir by a combination of offshore processing facilities and pipeline systems to transport the crude oil and gases from the Kashagan oil field, located in the north Caspian Sea in the Republic of Kazakhstan, approximately 80 km south east of the town of Atyrau, to a new Onshore Processing Facility (OPF), 40 km east of Atyrau, where the oil and gases will betreated and conditioned for custody transfer to in-country infrastructure by onshore dedicated oil and gas export pipeline systems.

The overall pipeline system from the Kashagan fields, Island D, offshore facilities to the OPF presently

Comprises two dedicated 28” oil and gas pipelines, about 95 km long, running in a northerly direction with an offshore length of approximately 66 km and an approximate onshore length of 29 km, including 3 km in swamp area. To provide fuel gas to the offshore process facilities an 18” fuel gas pipeline is also installed, in the same pipeline corridor and parallel to the 28” pipelines, from the OPF to offshore process facilities.

Two fiber optic cables are also installed for communication and control purposes between the OPF, the valve stations and the offshore facilities at the D-Island Central Control Room
