Policy & Procedure: Responsible and accountable for leading and directing overall operation for 73 unit Assisted Living 23 Memory Care community in accordance with resident needs, state and company policies & regulations during company management transition. I increased census to 99-100% occupancy and met corporate goals within established budgetary guidelines.

Interim Traveling Director, Assisted Living Concepts (now Enlivant), based out of Mesa, AZ, 2007-2008.

Regulatory Compliance/Quality Assurance: Exceptional organization and communication skills were recognized as I analyzed and managed 6 of 9 communities throughout Arizona with RDO and Asst. RDO during leadership turnover. Led, trained and motivated staff, reduced expenses and approved, balanced, budgeted for all operations. Consolidated, eliminated and overhauled systems into compliance for each facility to pass successful state surveys. Financial Responsibilities/Budgets: Annual budgets, programs and services for two assisted living buildings in two different states needed to be strategized and planned to operate profitably. I determined how monies would be allocated for 7 departments (1.8 million for each 44 unit community). RESULT: New annual budgets were projected and prepared while I communicated effectively with families and created incentives to maintain high level of team spirit for 50 staff where new leadership had already been hired before I entered into this two month assignment.

SPECIAL NEEDS GROUP (Deaf/Deaf-Blind/Hard-of-Hearing) (2000-2004)

I am proud of my accomplishments to empower Deaf leadership for their culture after these two start-ups.

Facility Administrator/Director, Concepts in Community Living (then SunWest, Emeritus SL, now Brookdale Senior Living), Chestnut Lane, Gresham, OR, 2003-2004.

Leadership: Recognized the need for the first assisted living facility to be established in Western United States for the Deaf. Recruited and trained staff and evaluated and signed up prospective residents only two weeks before opening. Determined that limited operational budget and resources meant money needed to be generated immediately to meet bank loan requirements for this 70 unit start-up with 27 employees. I transferred my leadership skills from a start-up non-profit agency to a start-up assisted living facility through adherence to policies and procedures and grew programs, systems and quality services with a limited budget while ‘wearing many hats’. RESULT: Profit was accelerated to 65% occupancy within 9 months of opening that propelled and empowered the community to continue to be a vital link for the Deaf.

Branch Office Manager/Lead Community Employment Specialist, Communication Service for the Deaf, Cedar Rapids, IA, 2000-2003. Largest non-profit in the nation for Deaf, Deaf-Blind.

Development of Program & Services: Recognized a special interest group was having difficulty securing jobs resulting in human resources not being effectively utilized in the workforce at large. I set up and launched a non-profit branch office and established and coordinated programs & services that encouraged empowerment. Result: I expanded and built the specified service area in three years from 3 to 17 counties (surpassing planned grant requirements for 11), increased client census with paralleled continuous growth and implemented & assigned additional services.

Organization Branding: Identified community outreach was needed. I planned and implemented marketing strategies and promoted the organization through public presentations and sensitivity training programs while building relationships with businesses and community; recruited and trained board members; encouraged, advised and coached clients in employment and life skills and worked in partnership with other agencies for fundraising, grants, proposals. RESULT: I ensured the organization became a viable and integral bridge within the community where it has expanded several more times to-date.
