Clemente and a handful of her contemporaries in the medical profession. The center was built and inaugurated on March 19, 1970. The institution’s progress over the years can be clearly seen from its rapid extension. From an initial 100 patient bed capacity in 1970, it has expanded to 300 beds after years of operation.

Volunteer Position: 5 November 2012 - 31 March 2013 Staff Nurse - Rotating in Emergency Room, Out- Patient Department, Medical/Surgical Ward, Pedia ward/Isolation/PICU, Operating Room/PACU, Delivery Room/Labor Room and OB-Gyne Ward
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess patient’s condition. Check vital signs. Determine the prioritization of patient’s condition. Carry out STAT orders by physicians. Administer medications. Insert intravenous lines. Assist in wound suturing. Facilitate NGT and foley catheter insertions. Facilitate ABG extractions. Facilitate in preparing for diagnostics procedures. Monitor equipment such as infusion pumps, cardiac monitors and mechanical ventilators.
In the Emergency Room, patients who arrive at the Emergency Room with loss of consciousness and with the unknown cause of death. Patients who are pulseless and needs immediate resuscitation. Cases usually handled are patients with diseases such as CVA (Stroke) infarct, Transient Ischemic Attack and Acute Coronary Syndrome. Pulmonary diseases such as Pneumonia, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Bronchial Asthma, Pulmonary Congestion. Communicable diseases such as Measles, Chicken pox and Shingles. Traumatic cases are also handled in the Emergency Room in patients with laceration, avulsed wound, stab wounds, gunshot wounds and patients who suffered from vehicular accidents. Minor cases are also handled such as Systemic Viral illness, URTI, Tonsillitis and Urinary tract infection. The Emergency Room in Capitol Medical Center is also an Animal Bite Center which handles patients in giving anti-rabies vaccines and immunizations. Minor operations such as wound suturing and Incision and Drainage are included in one of the cases handled. OB-Gyne cases such as full term and Pre-term labor and delivery, eclampsia, and threatened abortions.
