Relevant Experience
Research Assistant, University at Albany 2015-2018
Neurobiology Laboratory, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory
Investigated the function of Excitatory Amino Acid Carrier 1 (EAAC1) in the brain as well as the relationship between EAAC1 polymorphisms and the onset of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Worked extensively with genetically engineered mice using aseptic technique in a controlled laboratory setting.
Demonstrated a relationship between EAAC1 and activation of group I metabotropic glutamate receptors, suggesting a difference in the functional role of EAAC1 across the brain.
Revealed a difference in expression of EAAC1 between two different types of receptor neurons using immunofluorescence labeling in engineered mouse lines.
Correlated the EACC1 genotype with mouse grooming behavior using a series of premeditated in vivo behavioral tests.
