Accomplished Medical Technologist with 39 years of experience in hospital laboratories, 29 years at VA. Adept at working in all core lab sections. Currently I am serving as Reference Lab Coordinator as well as acting Chemistry QA Tech. In addition, I coordinate student education in core lab, train collectors for Employee Drug Testing, and conduct core lab competencies. ACHIEVEMENTS

Obtained MS in Biology with emphasis in Microbiology while working full time at VA.

Was instrumental in starting new laboratory, and was responsible for every aspect of its functioning.

Attended company training for XPand Chemistry analyzer, Centaur CP Immunochemistry analyzer, and advanced training for Vista Chemistry analyzer and Vitek Microbiology analyzer.

Completely revised all training and competency documents for Chemistry department at Durham VA.

Manage all aspects of Reference lab – specimens received and outgoing specimens. Consult with Pathologist for specialized testing and facilitate process involved in sending to referral lab. Monitor result entry. Train and assess personnel. Train labs sending specimens to Durham in packaging/ sending procedures. Perform billing, turnaround times, reporting workload numbers.

Chemistry QA duties; monitor daily QC, institute new lots of QC, investigate QC problems, correlate PT performance and submit to CAP, investigating unacceptable PT results. Perform inter-instrument comparisons. Write and revise procedures, perform and monitor instrument maintenance,

UNC student training – responsible for all aspects of administration for Chemistry department, such as preparing of unknowns, training, administering/grading tests, ensuring students receive training on all benches, and sending training documentation to UNC.
