OBJECTIVE:
I am looking for a company to grow with, one that will help me obtain the rates and certificates to continue from an entry level engineer to a chief. In return I would give the work ethic of a veteran. Understanding that some tasks are time oriented while always trying to find permanent solutions is one of these concepts. It is better to fix a problem once rather than just put a band-aid on it for someone else to fix later. I am looking to join & contribute to a team.

Company: Island Tug and Barge- Seattle, WA
Title: Deckhand
Start Date: 06/2015 End Date: 01/2016
Responsibilities: The primary job was mooring boats and making tow. Line handling was number one, and making sure that the winches, cables, and all deck equipment were in good operating condition was my responsibility. I performed routine maintenance such as cleaning, chipping, scraping and painting. Additionally I stood watch in the engine room where I would have to monitor the gauges and assist the Chief Engineer as needed. Additionally the other deckhand duties also fell under this role: cleaning, painting, polishing, cooking, ect. I worked both on ocean going vessels, a dredge, and on near-coastal vessels.
Company: Brusco Tug and Barge- Longview, WA
Title: Deckhand
Start Date: 12/2014 End Date: 06/2015
Responsibilities: As a Deckhand I sailed from San Francisco up to Valdez with Brusco. In addition to handling lines, mooring, and general deckhand duties, I was the chef on board. I was in charge of coming up with meal plans, ordering, restocking and cooking for the five man crew. As I was always on the opposite shift of the Engineer I would have Engine watch duties as well. I assisted changing the oil and maintenance of the EMD engines and generators.
Company: FAS Seafoods- British Columbia
Title: Deckhand
Start Date: 06/2014 End Date: 10/2014
Responsibilities: I was the only other crew member on board the SS Salmon King. Ironically we were trolling for tuna. I was in back working the 12 jig lines while the skipper drove all over the coast of Oregon, Washington, and Queen Charlotte Islands. I bled, and plate froze, and stacked the catch. I would drive the boat at night, operating the helm, radar, depthometer, and CB radio.
Company: Icy Straits- S.S. Homefire- Douglass, AK
Title: Deckhand
Start Date: 06/2013 End Date: 08/2013
Responsibilities: The S.S. Homefire was a commercial fishing vessel. We drift netted for salmon, primarily in Lynn Canal and Sitka Sound. Setting the net and picking fish were hourly tasks. Daily tasks included: general cleaning & maintenance, setting up rigging, coiling and taking down mooring lines, launching/securing the skiff, standing watch in all weather conditions, and some navigation from the helm.
SKILLS:
I have been a rock climbing instructor, I have my SPRAT ( 2017- Society of Professional Rope Access Technician) certificate and enjoy rigging knots.
I have been trained in, and worked in, high stress scenarios: I am a certified first responder and have worked in the medical field. I am a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Marine Corps and have been deployed.
I also enjoy fixing motorcycles: diagnosing their problems and finding solutions. When people say good help is hard to find, I strive to be that employee people talk about.
