Provided Production Support for the SAP SRM-MDM Materials Catalog, Designed EQUIPMENT Master Repository.

Closely worked with and supported the Paragon Offshore Information Architect as part of the Information Systems Team.

Provided support for the SAP SRM-MDM Materials Catalog functionality as deployed within the SAP SRM solution. I gathered additional design requirements to create a RIG equipment record within an Equipment repository structure which extended the standard SAP MDM Business Content.

Developed a custom, standardized and abstracted Equipment Master record structure within an EQUIPMENT_001 repository that incorporates all the attributes and equipment of a standard RIG oil platform.

This included data from many non-sap systems be brought into the design including attributes of the IADC standards (International Association of Drilling Contractors) body, while also incorporating the cross-division process and attribute requirements of the Maintenance and Supply Chain divisions including functional location taxonomy.

With SAP MDM supporting the powerful feature of multiple simultaneous taxonomies linked to repository data for cross searching and classification with independent attribute pools for each taxonomy we could view, cross reference, and access extended data in efficient ways within the standard SAP ECC hierarchy views for SAP Equipment Master records.

Developed a custom taxonomy for equipment by Type we could do advanced drill down searches on all equipment by type and their attributes for both Maintenance and Supply Chain views, including compliance requirements for the International Association of Drilling Contractors IADC within the fleet. Additionally, we were able to then drill down through the functional locations of where any piece of equipment was currently installed in a common maintenance view and review MRO information related to the equipment within the platform fleet of over 40 vessels, each rig represented in a 5-node level hierarchy functional location installation points throughout each vessel.

The Design created a clear view into equipment record information, deployment, utilization, US Coast Guard regulation compliance and maintenance activities throughout the fleet showing actionable information on counts of each equipment type owned. This extended the capability to cross reference the current functional location installation point of any piece of equipment selected in the fleet. Having this type of information structured in this tool provided a highly responsive example of the powerful capabilities of SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management Hub systems to organize and quickly view relevant data for operations and any Industry regulatory compliance standards.

ROLE: SAP MDM PROCESS INTEGRATION CONSULTANT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

I joined the team at Maxim as a Senior SAP MDM 7.1 – PI 7.x advisor and was tasked to engineer and design a new Materials Master Data Governance business process solution.

Guided and appended the SAP MDM server implementation into an highly complex production enterprise topology that consisted of 2 different Material legacy platforms being used to maintain materials by 2 separate engineering departments, each with unique business processes and data structure in place around Materials, and an SAP ERP Central Component Server (ECC 6.0). The business process in place at the time was not using Production Planning (PP)module.

Designed the SAP MDM Master Data Governance solution to integrate and support, syndicate and maintain current material information of various Material Types (ie: Halb, Fert, etc) into the new Production Lifecycle Management shop floor manufacturing system for their international based manufacturing plant.

Lead the implementation and configuration of the SAP Master Data Management Server build for the Development (DEV), Quality Assurance (QA) and Production (PRD) server system environments using the current SAP MDM Support Pack 08. I designed, created, and integrated a customized BOM Master Data Governance record repository to leverage and promote BOM records up to a Master Data Record level.

I lead the design and implementation of the SAP PI 7.3 system integration points and document structures required to enable the document choreography and exchange of information between the global PLM systems hosted internationally with the SAP ECC and the MDM server systems hosted in the United States.

In addition, I supported the integrations into SAP PI 7.1 from MDM and an SAP Portals Composite Application user front end developed and deployed on SAP Enterprise Portals which leverages SAP MDM 7.1 as a component to the solution.

I developed a solid and repeatable Master Data Governance Methodology to migrate and maintain the Vendor Master data, check table (reference data) and main records while including a large consolidation of enriched master records into compliance with the Global Master Data Governance Strategy blueprint and provided gap analysis for the differences between the SAP R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 record structure.

These activities included JAVA development, extension and support for the BlankTupleFix.jar utility application using the MDM API and compiling jar files to remove blank tuple table entries when data is incomplete from the source system. The analysis and methodology of business process adoption included leveraging the SAP best practices and SAP MDM tools provided by SAP for these activities in preparation of migrating from SAP R/3 4.7 to the SAP Enterprise Central Component Server (ECC 6).

I researched and provided in summary the SAP information on proper support pack levels and pre-requisite activities required within the R/3 system to follow SAP best practices and standards.

Prototyped and tested the standard SAP Master Data extraction objects (both check table reference data and master data objects) for the Vendor domain. This activity includes all the system configurations required within the R/3 4.7 enterprise, PI 7.11 and SAP Master Data Management servers.
