Professional Experience
Product Engineer (Ice Machines) - Hoshizaki America Inc. Apr 2016 - Present Hoshizaki America is a leading manufacturer of Ice makers and Commercial Refrigeration equipment.
• Conducted routine analyses and tests, with DAQ tools (YOKOGAWA DAQLOGGER), pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials / processes, completed required documentation and provided recommendations. Supported product line with design issues and modified hardware in production.
• Achieved the goal of $500,000 cost savings, 2 quality improvements, 1 process improvement and 5 DFM improvements in a year’s time. Reduced 40% parts in the future models, as well as use of all injection molded plastic parts. Removed bonding process which saved 30 minutes of assembly time and reduced 20% cost on each unit. Completed the DOE-2018 project that needed to comply with regulations like NSF, UL Listed and Energy Star. Maintained BOM using PTC Windchill as a PDM / PLM tool, while, Microsoft Dynamics as ERP. Involved in product lines from concept to mass production. Evaluated new designs using DFMEA as an analytical tool.
• Performed routine design, rapid prototyping (fuse deposition), modification and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical components / systems and sheet-metal fabrication.
• Acquired license to practice refrigeration regulated by ESCO which helped gain a lot more knowledge about refrigerants, brazing, soldering, vacuuming, charging, safety, legal and regulations.
• Created design specifications for a limited variety of components and systems. Prepared preliminary & alternative sketches of possible designs using PTC CREO 3.0 / PROE as a CAD tool & CFD simulations using ANSYS.
• Gained hands on experience with PCB’s, wiring schematics, fuses, relays, capacitors, pressure transducers, transformers, Solid State relays, RTD’s, thermocouples and daily exposure towards plastics and sheet-metal applications.
Thermal Systems Lead - Formula SAE / SAE Electric at UTA Racing Sep 2013 - Jan 2016 UTA Racing is the Formula SAE team from University of Texas at Arlington. Every year our team designs and builds a Formula race car to compete in the SAE series against other universities in Michigan, Nebraska & internationally.
• Used SolidWorks to design & also manufacture (hands on) engineering parts (Trained machinist).
• Developed and re-engineered (reduced size/weight) the radiator for our 2014 combustion car.
• Engaged in maintaining (Designing/ Machining/ Order new parts) the previous year’s race-cars.
• Targeted to form my Thesis dissertation inclined towards optimizing the cooling system for a race car, considering thermal & fluid effects. Calculated heat rejection through conduction and convection along with optimizing air/water pressure drop through experimental analysis. Page 2 of 2
Operations Intern - Blue Star India Ltd. (Mfg. Division, India) May – June 2012 Blue Star is India’s leading air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company.
• Gained hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, machining, and electrical wiring.
• Facilitated design modulations for an automated welding machine to increase production by 60%, improve condenser quality, re-organized the department layout, labor reduction & supported lean manufacturing using Kaizen as a technique. (Rewarded with a KAIZEN Certificate)
• Deployed a high efficiency MIG welding machine using Time & Motion study analysis, CPM, and Automation.
• Drove, verified & implemented design changes for jigs & fixtures used for copper bending machines, copper- cutting machines, and other support systems.
Engine Overhaul Intern - Air India Ltd. (Engine Overhaul Division, India) Dec 2007 – May 2008 Air India is India’s national airliner & provides engineering services to maintain aircraft body and engines.
• Overhauled and maintained General Electric (GE-90) and Pratt & Whitney (PW-4056) aircraft engines.
• Performed practical analysis, maintained engines and interpretation of schematics for aeronautical systems.
• Developed a deep understanding of the machine shop & plasma division functioning.
Quality Intern - Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Ltd. (Truck Division, India) June - Nov 2006 Godrej Material Handling is India’s largest lift truck manufacturer exporter providing mobile path material handling solutions to virtually all industries in manufacturing, infrastructure, aviation, defense, railways & power.
