ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
PART DESIGN & PACKAGING
Responsible for design, packaging & deciding specifications as per vehicle performance & emission requirements for following components:
a) Fuel System: Fuel Pump, Filter, Fuel tank, Fuel lines (Metallic and Non-metallic) & Metal/Plastic mounting brackets.
b) Evaporative Emission system: Carbon canister, Purge valves and lines for Indian & EU market.
c) CNG System: Pressure regulator, CNG Filter, Pressure gauge, High & Low pressure fuel lines and Joints.
3D Modeling and Layout of individual components and complete system for an automotive platform.
Competent in 2D drafting technical drawings for components/assemblies with good knowledge of drawing standards, dimensioning, tolerance stack up, GD&T, etc.
Prepare Design validation plan (DVP) at component level and system level.
Conducting Design Reviews (Concept DR, DMDR, Drawing DR, Part DR and Vehicle DR) for each system & DFMEA for all critical components. Design for Assembly (DFA) & Design for Service (DFS) done for each system.
Awareness of various engineering standards (ISO, IS, JIS, JASO, SAE, AIS and ECE).
TESTING & VALIDATION
Evaluate system & parts through CAE (Stress analysis, frequency analysis, etc.) using NX Nastran during design stage.
Evaluate complete system & parts in Part-Level & Vehicle-Level tests which includes all DV tests, functional tests, Vehicle Endurance test, Kashin test, Dynamic clearance and Rough road endurance tests.
Confirmation of NVH on part & vehicle level during trials & taking necessary countermeasures to meet NVH targets.
Conduct SHED Testing and meeting homologation requirements for evaporative emission system of vehicle.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Involved in the product development cycle from Design proto, through various trials & eventually mass production.
Issue RFQs & participate in supplier selection process through supplier’s technical & quality review.
Well versed with wide range of manufacturing processes such as molding, forming, extrusion, etc. along with working knowledge of various materials such as metals, plastics and elastomers.
Prepare engineering & production bill of materials and implement engineering change.
Experience of working with ENOVIA – Project Management System which monitors all development milestones.
QUALITY CONTROL & PROBLEM SOLVING
Establish assembly process & sequence for part fitment and resolving assembly line issues during trials.
Establish service process & sequence for part replacement during vehicle service at dealer end.
Carrying out analysis & design countermeasures for market related quality problems in domestic and export market. Conducting market surveys in domestic and export markets.
Supplier audits to Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers and emphasize use of Pika-Pika, Poka-Yoke, 5S, FIFO, PLC control, etc.
COST CONTROL & WEIGHT REDUCTION
Decide cost target for proto & mass production components based on its design, material, tooling, manufacturing process cost etc. Participation in negotiation rounds during supplier selection process.
LOCALIZATION: Working & Coordinating for Localization projects of imported parts & inner child parts.
BENCHMARKING & TEARDOWN of competitor’s models & generation of new ideas for cost & weight savings.
