I worked with Amanda Kilzer, FNP and Holly Shirley for 8 weeks. In this setting, I was able to independently assess patients and develop a plan of care. Under the supervision of the FNP, I was able to appropriately manage these patients with both acute and chronic medical conditions and well woman exams. I was able to assist with injections, provide would care instructions, referrals for appropriate testing or referrals to other healthcare professionals.

01/2018 – 02/2018 Gateway Urgent Care – Columbia, IL

Urgent Care Facility – Janae Korte – FNP, Jordan Priebe – FNP and Cari Stefani - FNP

I worked together with family nurse practitioners in this setting for 8 weeks. I was able to manage patients with acute illnesses/injuries. I was allowed to see the patients and order appropriate testing and determine a plan for management of their acute

conditions. I was advised on x-ray interpretation, suturing, cardiac interventions, wound care, skin glue, hospital transfers, EKG interpretations, fracture and dislocation

management, flu treatment/testing and strep management/testing. I was able to assist patients with referrals to a primary care physician or specialists for further care.

Pediatric Setting – Dr. Jennifer Ray

I worked with Dr. Ray for 8 weeks in her pediatric office setting. We saw a variety of

patients from newborn to 18 years old. I was able to perform assessments and well-child exams. I assisted with managing ADHD, depression, asthma, RSV and cystic fibrosis.

Primary Care Setting – Dr. Judith Weis

I worked alongside Dr. Weis for 16 weeks in her primary care office. We saw a variety of patients from newborn to elderly. These patients ranged from well visits, acute visits and managing chronic conditions. I was able to independently perform assessments and assist with well woman exams, well child visits, punch biopsies, injections,

medication management, diabetic teaching, hypertension management and referrals to other healthcare professionals.
