A brief Resume / History

I have been in the commercial construction industry since 1974. Following (2) yrs in college studying Commercial Art and Drafting.

(1974-1976) I then joined the Labors Union, I worked on (2) Commercial (Poured in place & Precast concrete) The 1st was a (5) story Bldg, class Rm structure. The 2nd A (5) Story Bldg that was the new Administration Bldg at Long Beach State University.

After that, I joined the Carpenters Union (1976-1996 I went through the Carpentry Apprentice program.

I advanced in that trade, i.e. Journeyman Carpenter, Carpenter Foreman, Layout Man, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent etc. All Commercial work.

T.I.s – Umami Burger – A Bridge (Logging Bridge) for the California Department Of Forestry. Approx 150’ Long x 15’ Wide, Poured in place Supports, with On site poured in place Precast planks that spanned from support to support. With lightweight topping slab. A Grocery store remodel in Napa. – (4) DaVita Dialysis Centers. – (2) Medical T.I.s – A small snack Stand (CMU) in Fairfield. - A new Basketball Court & (16) “Walk Alone Cages” (WAC) in San Quenton Correctional facility. This job included approx 300’ x 400 Ft demo of an existing concrete slab. Repouring a new 8” thk SOG With Storm drain system. Underground Plumbing & Sewer system, to each of the WACs.

A new Guard Tower. New Eating area. And New Fencing around the compound. And a slew of extra Change Orders, in & around the prison.

Several School remodel jobs for Sacramento City School District, working for a sub contractor.

As well as other jobs.

(2014 – To present) Construction Inspector for the “San Francisco Housing Authority” (SFHA) Some of my responsibilities are. To check submittals. - To keep Daily reports, of ea project in progress. – Work side by side with the PM. – Attend all meetings, Project related’ as well as (SFHA) protocol issues. Keep subs as well as our own crews compliant with (Cal OSHA) & Our own (SFHA) safety standards. Also inspect Our many units, (Approximately 6700 total units) and site related issues i.e. Tenant damage. Graffiti - Broken Windows - Illegal Burglar Bars (Fire Safety SFFD) – Fire Cabinets & Fire Extinguishers – Hand Rails both new and old, both interior & exterior. – Stairs – Windows – Paint – HVAC – Plumbing issues (Both interior & exterior ) - Signage – Doors - Lighting – Sidewalks - Vegetation – Retainer walls - Parking lots – Streets (SFHA) take care of many of the street on our sites.

The above inspections are just to name a few. I also write Work orders. And make drawings (Plans) with suggested remedies. Also I take many, many, pictures! I also work with the site managers, as well as the site maintenance staff. And work side by side with our own construction company. (Force Account).

The reason I am looking for a different employer is the following. The City of SF is turning over about 90% of our sites to the private sector “ Non Profit” . Also, my commute is a nightmare. And I have unfortunately had to duct behind my car because of a gun battle!. These sites are extremely dangerous. We have around (1) murder a week.
