Project Engineer

Directed project engineering and redesign for a product line of gas generators that instantly inflate and deploy the evacuation slides on the Airbus A380 commercial airliner. Analyzed problems and created solutions through 1) Design Change Notice (DCN), 2) Discrepancy Report (DR) and 3) Corrective Action Report (CAR), and supplier input.

Gas Generator Labeling:

Decreased label application 50%; “redo’s,” 20% and reduced costs approximately 25% for each new assembled lot by replacing the electro-chemical etch with a 3M label that was laser “markable” and met customer requirements for readability and permanency under use.

Quality Control:

Reduced conflicting measurements and production delays by creating a team from purchasing, quality, engineering and the corresponding supplier, which resulted in a design and documentation change that assured pressure vessel integrity, resolved late deliveries, increased safety and customer confidence.

Supported and evaluated the results of various Gas Generator, ballistics, thermal cycle tests and LAT testing.

Root Cause Analysis:

Eradicated a dark oxide stain that appeared on the generator housings and caused rejection at customer delivery. This resulted in the creation of a procedure that “deselected” the stained units and discarded them automatically while selecting the good units from stock, thus improving the aesthetics and product integrity. External and internal laboratory analysis was inconclusive for clear root cause over a two month period.

Eliminated a handling step and solved a critical moisture and propellant issue by utilizing a transparent bag that allowed constant viewing and X-ray inspection of the propellant and the moisture indicator card without opening the bag.

INTEL CORPORATION – Chandler, AZ & Albuquerque, NM 1997 - 2008

Intel - Technical Project Manager (Chandler AZ

Automation Engineer and Technical Project Manager

Planned and managed internal groups such as IT, construction crews, automation, facilities and external subcontractors to create a remote operations center, which centralized the control of operations and processes.

Saved approximately 40% in applied labor costs. Reduced four operators per 20 tools to one operator per 40 tools (one example of savings in the lithography area).

Inside Intel - Process Engineer, Automation Engineer (Chandler & Albuquerque)

Created & managed self-directed projects to move factory operations and processes toward competitive world-class performance.

Reduced lithography tool downtime 60% by researching and recommending a Nikon Remote Control console. This allowed greater alignment error visibility and reduced four technicians to one remote operator.

Decreased root cause analysis from three days to one by forming a team and creating a software tool that extracted errors and listed them chronologically so that any misstep could be easily identified and solved.
