PROJECTS
Optimizing Data Center Cooling Modes Using Artificial Neural Networks. Thesis 2017 – Present, The University of Texas, Arlington.
• Designed a cooling unit for the Modular Data Centers (MDCs) with Direct Evaporative Cooling, Indirect Evaporative Cooling, and Air Side economizer using CFD (6SigmaRoom) and used the simulation data for training and validation of the ANN model along with the sensor data from a fully functional MDC.
• Used the ANN model for sensitivity analysis and defined new psychrometric bins.
• Setting up controls using the ANN defined bin envelopes reduced the PUE of the data center by approximately 0.14 resulting in 10% less cooling power consumption.
• Developed a step ahead predictive ANN model for proactive cooling and controls. Design and Simulation of Fluidized Bed Thermal Oil Heater with Flue Gas Recirculation System (Internship) Undergraduate final year thesis, 2014-15 Sponsored by Thermax India Ltd.
• Developed a mathematical model for a thermal oil heater using thermodynamic and heat transfer laws and optimized it using numerical methods and CFD tools (SolidWorks & Fluent) for validation.
• Extended the work on the thermal oil heater to study the effects of flue gas re-circulation on temperature parameters of thermal oil heater and proposed a prototype for cost optimized and compact thermal oil heater with best fuel efficiency.
• Managed project documentation and provided reports to the Design and Innovation team.
• Results showed an increased combustion and thermal efficiency and reduced NOx emissions. CFD Analysis of an IGBT for Thermal Cyclic Loading. August 2017
• Modeled an IGBT device using FloTherm and analyzed it under different cyclic loading.
• Studied the maximum stresses and strains developed in the device for DFMEA analysis.
• Analyzed the failure in the solder layer and crack formation and cause analysis. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
