ALCON -A Novartis company, Fort Worth, TX 2011-2016

Head Simulation - Product Design & Development Engineering (2015-Present)

Responsible for leading simulation at Alcon and finding new areas where simulation would significantly accelerate product innovation and development processes.

Led collaboration of product design, delivery, testing & manufacturing group to accelerate concept to launch of Ultrasert & Panoptix which resulted in $100 million in annual revenue.

Led product design, delivery system injector and manufacturing group to accelerate going from several concepts to optimized design for Enable & Automated Pre-Loaded which are next generation lens and delivery system.

Joined forces with Google to guide the design & simulation of active implantable GoogleX lens which will have an electronic chip, glucose sensor, antenna and battery embedded in an intraocular lens - a $5 Billion market

Working with 1Co an acquired company to develop an accommodative liquid lens.

Team supported simulation needs of Alcon R &D (1600+ employees)

Worked with external companies/universities to develop new technology for accommodative IOL, next generation delivery system, breakthrough technology, cryogenic machining, etc.

Developed corporate FEA center of excellence by implementing the hardware (multi-core CPU, cluster & cloud), software (Ansys, LSdyna, & Moldflow ) and hiring resources to support five different sites.

Performed value analysis and created plan to use simulation results for submission to FDA for design verification. This saves 85 days & $9 million per launch.

Led research, design, simulation, prototyping & development from concept to launch of all intraocular lens (IOL) and support after launch.

Worked with R&D and marketing leaders to create product development road map and delivered as promised.

Operation of Stryker India Technical Center and New Technology Development

Recognized as one of 15 employees nominated out of 19,000 at Stryker for 2007 Synergy Awards, one of five employees nominated out of 2000 for Total Performance Award 2007 at Stryker

Responsible for simulation needs of 1000+ engineers for design, sustaining engineering and continuous improvement.

Developed relationships with universities and research centers around the world to develop breakthrough technology to develop new products. Evaluated new technology/products for acquisition.

Implemented FEA in seven North America divisions, four European divisions and one Asia Pacific division in four years.

Increased FEA users from 2 to 150+ in 7 years. Implemented Ansys, CFDesign, Mechanica, MoldFlow, LSDyna & Ansoft.

Mentored 150+ PhDs, engineers and managers in FEA.

Led teams to develop automated robot operated test setups for testing medical devices.

Responsible for Operation of Stryker India Technical Center ( 2006- 2011)

Got $2 million funding from CEO to start India Technical Center with an ROI of 2 years. Achieved ROI in 1 year.

Grew India Technical center from 6 employees to 500 + employees making it a new division of Stryker.

Initially India Tech Center supported the product development for US and European market and later started developing and manufacturing product for India and China market.

Led operation of India technical Center which had supply chain, human resources, finance, IT, strategic planning, product design, sustaining engineering, simulation, manufacturing operations, and testing teams.

Collaborated with executive management to change product development process to improve quality and reliability of Stryker global to save Stryker $135 million annually.

Performed analysis and design improvement from concept to launch of 200+ medical devices, executed projects ranging from orthopedic implants, surgical instruments, battery charger, endoscopes, catheters, spine, sterilization, neuromodulation, interventional spine to large systems such as neptune waste disposal system, medical beds, navigation etc.

Manager Cutting Accessories Group (2001-2003)

Launched Saggital Saw in five months after verification and validation. Improved cutting performance of the saw by 80%, improved life by 100 %, reduced noise by 10 db & Amp Draw by 50%.

Managed a team of 40 people, improved sales from $12 million/year to $60 million/year (highest revenue earning product in Stryker Instrument’s history), Awarded Certificate of excellence.

Managed the research and development of all cutting accessories business ($62 million /year business). Launched 110 new products in one year. Filed Dual cut Surgical Saw Blade- Patent application 200********

HURCO COMPANIES, Inc., Indianapolis, IN

Research & Development Manager

Managed High Speed Machining Center Project (budget of $2 million/year). This was a major technical breakthrough project for Hurco. This helped Hurco to do a quantum leap from the machines they used to make with 6000RPM spindle and 0.1 g acceleration to 20,000 RPM spindle and 1G acceleration. This took the stock from $1 to $35.

Managed design, FEA of the machine. Managed 40 employees (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Quality & Documentation) and 50 vendors to manufacture/purchase more than 500 different parts in the US and internationally.

KENNAMETAL Inc., Latrobe, PA

Senior Engineer

Received recognition and cash award for developing the world’s fastest milling cutter (patent US05934842). Generated sales of $3 million per year. The cutter can reach supersonic speed.

Licensed and implemented Tuned Tooling Systems technology, which generated sales of $20 million per year.

Implemented FEA across entire Kennametal corporation which reduced lead time from 1-2 years to six months for most tools resulting in millions of dollar in cost savings. Managed 7 engineers to perform FEA
