I have worked on several metallurgical processes during my 30 plus years. Always achieved my objectives. Begin to work on Virginia gold plant as an operator,moved to Anglo Gold an as reduction official completed all relevant modules to obtain my plant foreman certificate in 1986 thereafter done my metallurgical foreman certificate and in 2012 done my uranium plant production sup certificate. Commissioned several process projects successfully during my years on the mine My expertize are gold and uranium processing. Training people are a passion as my experience does allow me to share my knowledge. Completed several courses successfully to assist me in my work. I’ve managed process plants and acted as mine manager. Started to work on gold mines from 1982 and worked my way up to plant superintendent for the last 12 years I’ve trained several candidates on uranium processing and modulated the material for Ezulwini plant.

Work as an underground boilermaker at South Deep mine. Re-furbishing their high pressure pipe lines. This work kept me busy until Diggers offered me a better package. Maintained the high pressure pumps (multi stage pumps) as a fitter Reason for leaving: Company owner left the country (One man business) 2005 –2007
Millwright
LEE MINING, Potchefstroom
Work as a millwright for this company as a fitter and turner, boilermaking and electrical work. Main function is maintenance work on coal fired boilers (John Thompson) dry back and wet back. Do coded welding on boilers, glorifiers autoclaves all steam pipes (high pressure) Installing of new pipe work, c/fiers etc. Do maintenance on hospital and correctional services kitchen appliances elect and steam. All hot water pipes installations from the boilers to respective areas. Do maintenance on plants. Done pressure vessel testing (water)
Reason for leaving: Done extensive travelling. Got a post where no travelling was required.

This plant consisted of the following sections which I supervised:
Treatment

Extracting of the gold by means of Carbon in Pulp process.

Smelt house operation: using zinc precipitation (This section became redundant)
Commissioning of the new smelt house (changed over to electro wining)
Carbon in pulp section (or carbon in leach as it’s also preferred too.)
Residue disposal from the plant.
Slime dam monitoring and all waste water management. Acted as the Technical Assistant:
Ordering reagents for plant use and controlling of this reagents
Update the metallurgical figures in the morning from shift reports
Responsible for all sampling of the plant
All metallurgical employees reported to me in total 28 workers.
I was responsible for the effective operation of the plant.
At this period, I supervised the commissioning of the electro wining section, the change over of the smelt house
This is a position higher than that of a Plant Foreman, where I have gained more valuable experience - Acted in this position for nine (9) months
Commissioned the new elution section, extracting gold from carbon - report to the domain superintendent.
Acted as Domain Superintendent:
I was in control of the eng dept. as well of the metallurgical dept.
In total there were 28 shift workers and 24 artisans with helpers.
The technical advisor with reagent handlers also reported to me.
Had to control and authorize all the stock and the orders
I had to do month end reports and draw up presentations of new operations in the plant
(At this time we was busy to commission a new smelt house section as well as elution operations)
I had to update training material for these sections

This position in the old term was metallurgical foreman - Report to the Plant Manager.
The reason I was taken of this positions was that Anglo gold closed it’s ERGO operations in the Springs area and they had to place this employees in their respective positions. Acted as the Plant Training Officer:
Train the employees in safety standards, all aspects in cyanide safety and handling and basic first aid for cyanide
Train and assess plant personal in effective plant operational procedures.
Plant induction to new and contractor employees
Train plant personnel in plant procedures and safety standards

Presented new training material to him and plant managers via presentations
Was chosen to be the relieving training officer for the No 1 gold plant now the Mponeng gold plant.

The first posting was as a Reduction Official on Western Deep Levels Number Two Gold Plant Started with the basic training as a metallurgical foreman, by working in all the plant sections. The position filled during this period was Plant shift Foreman. Operated the following sections with the help of subordinates which management entrusted to me:
Waste washing plant
Grading room supervisor (All plant samples done here)
Ore sorting and crusher plant, (Simons, standard and gyratory crushers jaw crushers (sampling grade determination from crushed rock done)
Smelt house Operations
Electrowinning of Au
Crusher and screening plant
Conventional milling (include tube mills and concentrator barrels, sampling)
Treatment and filter plant (merrils, leaf clarifiers, sampling)
Grading room or sample preparation room
Belt repairs and screen deck maintenance
Rubber lining of pipes and launders
Mill relining (Ball, Tube and run of mine ore mills)
Recloth of drum filters.

Treatment plant includes the CCD section and hopper clarifiers (counter current decantation)
Carbon in solution section Worked CIP and CIL sections as well.
Pressure leaching.
Elution: extracting the gold from the carbon by using AARL elution’s methods.
Boiler Plant that used coal and a lime slaking plant
Slimes dams: Working in the environmental section makes you responsible for the disposal of all waste from the plants and controlling the water balance for the plants.

About myself:
I do have plant experience in other metallurgical plants, Chrome, copper, platinum,diamond and Zinc plants. I may need to brush up the knowledge that will not take more than a week.
I’m an honest, hard worker and believe in what I do. Give my full support to my superiors, willing to share my experience with others, and still learning from them as well.
I’m multi tasked, skilled in fitting, boilermaker, electrical, believe that there’s no job impossible to do, well spoken, good team builder, willing to teach any person.
